I had to post and puff my chest a bit today  :icon_smile_big: It's been 30 days and I have lost 30 pounds! I am a big guy 6'8 and I stepped onto the scales a little over a month ago and I weighed 336 pounds!! I thought to myself geeze o pete that's too much, I had gotten to the point I felt like shit all the time, sweating and out of breath and I knew if I did not change the old grim reaper would change it for me! I drank way too much Diet Mt. Dew (like 8 cans a day) and ate far too much junk food. I had been down at one point in my life after my Divorce over 9 years ago to 250 pounds, got re-married (Did I mention she is a good cook! ) Anyway 2 more kids, job, and I let my weight slip away. Anyway I started this "diet" eating only one meal a day in the evening and I eat whatever I want no diet food, and I have cut out all pop I have not even had one diet mt. dew, and drink only water as of today I feel a ton better!! I have already went down 2 pant sizes and I hope to get down to 235 pounds!! Im pretty happy! The wife has even started and she has lost 16 pounds as well!
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Glad to hear     I was thinking of losing a pound or two myself.  Have you just changed your eating habits or have you done some exercises as well?

Congrats! Thats a lot of weight in a short time. Do you have a goal to lose more? I've always heard the body goes into preservation mode, with no weight loss, if you don't eat often enough.
I tried a few times and even lost 27 lbs but I love big steaks and wings and stuff covered in butter too much. ::)

That sounds dangerously fast to me.  Sorry to be a pooper but there is such a thing as too fast.  Makes it harder to keep the weight off in the long run.  IMHO shrinking your portion sizes works out better than skipping meals.

:2thumbs:

Props on cutting down the soda.  I used to be addicted to it too.  It's hard to quit.

It's nothing but trouble for your body, diet or regular.  Conventional wisdom already says the stuff is bad and the picture seems to get worse the more researchers study it.

Used to drink a lot of coke at one time. Stopped having it about 10 years ago. Had a sip at a friends place the other day just to see what it would taste like after all this time.................YUCK! could never go back to drinking it.

Yeah I am looking to lose 100 pounds total, I am doing no excercise at the moment, I know I have heard people before say eating one meal a day is bad for you but I have heard about more and more people doing it with positive results, and the fact is I don't gorge the one meal I have and I also drink about a cup of 100% prune juice each night with whatever I am eating and in the morning I have a cup of V8 and the rest of the day water, I don't feel weak or faint. I would encourage anyone drinking pop to quit! after the first 2 weeks I noticed my behavior changed and I was not as anxious or aggitated as easy.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Fred

Cutting out all fizzy drinks is a great start. The ammount of sugar in those things is mind boggling.

If you're not craving food or feeling weak or faint and are satisfied with the one meal a day I'd definitely stick with it. Good job and credit to you for taking the     initiative.  :2thumbs:

Same here. Maybe one soda a day. Is that horrible?  :shruggy:
I drink OJ every day, iced tea is good too. And cranberry juice. I also eat salad with every dinner, or sometimes a salad for lunch.

Had a physical recently, doc said my cholesterol was still just slightly high. Not sure if it's something to be overly worried about. Time to cut back on pizza, burgers, & wings.  :'(

Congrats to you!!
Keep it up!

Congrats man!!! Keep it up!

I had a similar experience nearly a year ago. Stepped on the scale and it read nearly 240 (I'm ~5' 11"). After spending a year in a cardiac ICU (for my son) it became obvious that something needed to change or I'd be returning there shortly, but as a patient this time (we'll be back for my son, that's inevitable). I've been maintaining a weight between 162 and 167 for about 6 months now. I have more energy, I'm not nearly as tired, and I just feel better on the whole. It's been a good experience.

Best of luck to you. It takes some willpower long term but it sure sounds like you're on the right track.

I have the same issue, which BTW arrived with the advent of kids (the twins pushed me way over in a tad more than 1 yr).  I have been able to bring it down with some dietary changes but most of the difference is a small but regular dose of exercise.  Walking the dogs a few times a week (couple miles), walking at lunch during work, and starting up Karate with my daughter (father/daughter time).  Cuts into all the "other stuff" I got going on but I sure do feel and sleep better. #s are dropping too!   :2thumbs:

Congrats!  I weighed 336 and I am only 5'5" 6 months ago I went back to TOPS(take off pounds sensibly).  I now weigh 274 and plan to drop to 215 so I am about half way there.  It is amazing! I did not even know how bad I felt.

Yep a good idea for me as well.  I cut ou the soda pop some time ago but still drink too much beer. . . .  :shruggy:

Good job guys!  Yeah don't lose it too fast or you'll pay later.  Eat and drink sensible.  No junk food, no refined sugars, no pop, lots of water (the most important thing you can do) and veggies and make sure the meat you eat is from a good source.  Have grass feed beef, not the corn fed stuff.  You can drink a pop a day and be fine, and you can still have a burger but limit it,  it's all in moderation.  Going out for junk food or eating processed food every day, washed doiwn with a coke, will get you in an early grave.

It's all about the quality and nutrition.  There's no nutrition in that cheeseburger so don't live on them.

I drink oj every day as well, the real stuff, not the concentrate crap.  Read the labels, question everything.  We don't have laws yet on controlling gmo's and a lot of 'food' out there is really bad for you so make sure you are educated.

For the record, I was a 150 lb fast food junky and now eat the best food we can get, most of it homegrown.  I'm overweight at 205 and I'm 5'11", but I've never been this healthy.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

its very important to exercise when on a diet, because you are not only losing fat you are losing muscle if you don't exercise. You will be skinny and flabby.
