My wife thinks I'm going into depression.....time will tell. Hopefully It wont get the best of me. After reading other peoples problems I shouldn't feel so bad. surprisingly for being an up beat person most of the time It doesn't take much to make me down and out. The last few years I have been really struggling with myself and doesn't take much for me to get down in the dumps. When all you do is sit home all day long thinking about crap that take's a toll on you. I have only been off work for a month and to be off 6 more months....smh.

DJ, are you doing okay. ? It sounds like your drinking hard.

djcarguy

Had 1 rum an green tea, tuesday after noon. home mix alittle gross took me hrs to drink it.

have done AA 30 yrs ago after drunk motorbike crash. I rarely have booze in my house, because i have a past of self medicating an abuceing  drinking. son moved out 2 weeks ago,he knows my past with drinking troble  but was so mind set on move an his life ,he gave me 3 bottles, vodka, rum,an toqkillya.. i hate tokillya an whiskey the taste is gross, like turpinetine too me.
bout poured it all out,but put it in cabinet??    i keep in mind an meds right by my drinking glass to remind me not to drink more than one in a blue moon while on meds. go 3 to 6 months with out a drink now days ,but it took many yrs.   an have had black outs ,vomiting an many bad times with drinking. one really bad nite with meds an drinking that still scares me when i look back.broke up my own house an3 car windshields an was out driveing with very little memory of it.with knife an gun in car with me. that was 02 out of work divorced again an pills an booze, bad combo.
please take care an learn without going this far guys an gal.  God bless an bee good an very careful.DJ :pity: :2thumbs:

Sorry to hear that Dennis.   :pity:

I've noticed your absence.

I was off work (retired) less than 2 weeks & already hating life set in.  When you perform physical work all your life & never take more than a couple weeks off it's hard on your system, at least for me it was.  I started at a young age working actually private work cause I was too young (yard work for a guy who just bought a 5 acre parcel with home for about a year).
As soon as I was old enough, slowly worked my way into 35-40 hours a week & school.  Not much for a social life but I had plans.  Probably why I was able to afford a '77 Trans Am in high school, '83 grad.  Everyone thought my parent's bought it.

It doesn't get easier Dennis.  A person needs stuff to do to keep their mind off things.  I should practice what I preach.  But anyhoots, I spend a lot of time on the puter.  Lots of time spent playing fantasy sports where I might add do pretty good.

If you'd like my # Dennis I can PM you.  I may not have solutions but hear I'm a pretty good listener.   ;)   I wish I was closer.  Between 2 gimps we should be able make some progress on your B5 beauty!

Well...I can offer a little tid bit on this one...You probably are...time off sucks, when you don't want it.
If you are anything like me, you would be a stubborn kind of guy that figures, time will tell...see what happens...If your wife is noticing things...I would go see someone...I did, back in the day! Sometimes the best advice given is from a non judgmental stranger, you can just go vent too for an hour or so.

Worrying about stuff, never helps, makes you feel worse, and can worry all you want, will not change anything.

Talk to a guy...one that makes you feel comfortable...take it from me...I did that a little too late....wife will eventually get pissed, tell you to do the same kinda thing, and that just adds to more problems...and you don't wanna get to that point....but, that's just me talking...

But...guessing you are bored, hurting, frustrated...and worrying about money...

I may be out of line, but...been there done that...I lost big time...

Yeah your pretty much right about everything, my wife is my rock and I treat her good and don't really worry about her not putting up with me. We have to go out of state Monday to get her to an Indian hospital in OK since there is none up here. She just got a new job and don't get insurance till her probationary period is up. She has 1/8 Cherokee in her so they pay for her medical but have to make a trek down there every time we need to. She has had something going on and we don't know what it is. I'm glad she is more up beat then I am....she's a tough cookie. They been dragging their feet since her last visit in October when they just gave her some meds but now she is still in alot of pain. Maybe after all this is taken care of I focus on healing and getting out of the house to do some things. I know sitting around worrying is bad but It's hard to turn your focus away from all the bad things.

Church! There is nothing better to lift your spirits than socializing with faithful people, and Most churches have a support group. Prayer is the best way to keep yourself level. I was surprised to find out how many car people are among my parish members. The pastor of course is always willing to talk with you. God is real. Your life is proof of that. Your life has value and meaning because God created you, this He did out of love for you. He made the creation for you to enjoy. It is thanksgiving weekend so think about all the things you have to be thankful for. Not just this weekend, but everyday. Dwell on the positive things in your life both past and present. Thank God for them in prayer. Ask for Him to give you strength. Helping others is a great way to make friends and lift your spirits while socializing, it quite often puts life in perspective in a positive way as well.

If you enjoyed physical work why not get a gym membership in retirement?   You are out in public, dry warm and around people you can engage or just watch.

Or was it the sunshine that made you feel good?  Go to a tanning bed once in awhile.
