This is for seasonal affective disorder (sad) aka the winter blues.

There are so many lamps out there it makes it hard to pick one so I thought I'd give it a shot here.

While everyone around here complains about winter, I found something to do that's fun in the winter; snowmobiling.
That is one thing some people have a hard time doing, making winter or rainy days fun.  I for one, don't mind them.

I love to curl up in a comfy chair, good fire burning in the wood heater, with a good book or a code breaker or crossword puzzle. I especially love it when it's foggy outside. As long as it doesn't last for more than a day or two.

Actually I don't hate winter as so many do and love sitting by the fireplace.  I don't care for snowmobile's or any of that though, saw to many mangled bodies at the hospital because of those things as well but I digress, I just don't care for it.

The problem I, and others, have is not the lack of activity in winter but the lack of light.  That's it.  I have plenty to do to keep me busy and in fact don't have enough spare time to do what I would like.  But I need the friggin' light.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

As others have mentioned, I also have to take vitamin D to get by in the winter.. I've struggled to keep my self motivated and have had no energy at all when it was dark outside when I left for work, and dark outside when I Got off work.. I've had theese issues for years, but finally went to the doctor last year, and he found out that my vitamin D level was extremely low, less than 1/10 of normal.. It has really helped me enjoy winter season more..

I have tv,computor box or radio on pretty much 24\7 as disttraction and something to spare me from the time alone and the neverending things my mind races on and on about.  i can not just say bed time and turn everything off and go to sleep.  my mind just focuses on things and races away keeping me up. i sleep in the recliner to keep back and knees bent and alined from side loads or twist.so i leave tv on and finally just drift off . well ya all hangin and find stuff that works for you..

Well heres to a happy holiday and bettttttttter new year   :2thumbs:

Bingo.

You gotta have light.....and a little heat wouldn't hurt either.

Today's sunlight where I live:  Sunrise  8:19 AM  / Sunset  4:54 PM.

Thankfully my office window is on the south side of the building, and the sun shines right on my desk.  It helps alot. :2thumbs:

I noticed that I am happier when the sun finally breaks through the clouds here in Missoula.  We are hit with inversions most of the winter, but I can drive out of town into a different valley and the sun will be shining on the bright white snow.  It really cheers me up and then it is back to the gray winter skies of Missoula.

I try to keep busy during the winter months and my job keeps me outside most of the winter.

I would be very interested to know if light therapy really works. Its only October and I'm already feeling the effects of the dwindling daylight. It's going to be one hell of a long winter...sigh.
DJ...I've given up on drug therapy. Got tired of being a pharmaceutical guinea pig searching for the right medication. Either the side effects have been unbearable or my system builds up a tolerance. Too expensive.
Someone mentioned vitamin D...think I'll give that a try as well.

Thanks to all of you for being here. Love the playfulness and funnies. I know as long as I can still laugh...I'm doing okay  ;)

That's right and I think this weekend America's been moved back an hour as well so it will get even worse.

Love daylight savings, could live with it all year round. I don't know why they keep giving and taking. They should just let it stay put. would save an awful lot of clock resetting.
