Some guy that I meet about 8 years ago that I bump into once or twice a year keeps bugging me that he wants to buy my car, every couple of years he offers more $ the last offer he gave me was $20,000 the way the car sits some of my friends say its worth it some say its worth more because its rust free and solid, all it really needs is little body work and paint.   http://s800.beta.photobucket.com/user/bbknarf/library/#/user/bbknarf/library/?&_suid=135269124828702182440433310559

If your friend wants a car, have him get on here.  He'll find a car real quick.  Then, you both will have one and you can scare the little old ladies or the hybrid owners together :icon_smile_big:

Not a bad offer, but I agree that you couldn't replace it for that amount.

I would keep it and pass again.

You guys are right, but sometimes theres going to be a point in your life that you might have to get rid of something, I'm $40,000+ in the hole and my wife is going to retire in 2-3 years so I have to do something.

I think you would regret it.  If the debt is crippling your ability to live what you deem a normal life then disposal of assets becomes something worth considering.  But if the debt is an inconvenient pain in the ass that slows down but doesn't cripple your lifestyle then I would keep it.

As others stated, you won't find another like that for $20K but I have to commend you on keeping your priorities straight.  You're $40K down with not enough time to pay it off before your wife retires.  Selling the car will still leave you $20K down but now you have a little more breathing room.

I would look high and low for any excuse to keep my Charger but with those figures on the table, what would be the point of keeping it if you can't afford to maintain it or even put gas in it?  You need to get out of the red and back into the green and selling that car will get you a whole lot closer.  Fun? No, not in the least but less painfull than having someone knock on the door with the news you've been dreading.

If you can find a way to have your cake and eat it then by all means keep your baby but the fact that you posted this tells me you already know where this is going.

Good luck no matter what route you choose.

That changes things.....I would take the offer as you can build another when your money issues gets solved. Yeah its going to cost you more in the long run to start over but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and do whats needed NOW.

Low 11 car?

I thought $20k sounded reasonable with today's market but you obviously have some $$ sunk in that drivetrain.  Tell your buddy $24k but accept 22,5k.   :shruggy:  Although I think I'd be happy with even $20k.
