Hey guys I'm ready to install my filler neck and i wanted to clean the inside first and was wondering how you guys did it? I was going to use CLR and it says not to use on aluminum (is the neck aluminum?) There's no rust in it just a white powder form. Any suggestions?

It is steel and I would probably rinse it out with brake cleaner or gasoline since there is no rust.

Mine had a bunch of whiteish scale inside it so I used a long bristle brush on a drill to scrub it out.

Mine looks about like yours.  Rust on the bottom part.  I bought some Evap-O-Rust and then used some duct tape to tape the tube shut then poured it full.  Let work for a couple of days.  Started leaking around the tape but I had it in a plastic pan.  Then took the tape off and immersed lower part in the rust remover.  Let sit for a couple of days and then rinsed with water and used a brush I found at Harbor Freight to scrub inside out.  I coated the bottom part with POR-15.  They actually make a product that is gas resistant which is what you would want to use.  Then I painted the outside to simulate the lead that it was covered with originally.  It came out pretty nice.  At the time nobody had a repop.  I think someone offered repops a few months ago.  Seems like they have disappeared though.

mine was real good inside  , except of the metal divider bit that sticks out from the bottom , that was coated in redrust , after a attempt of blasting just that area  :icon_smile_blackeye: ,

& follow instructions  to the letter , just make sure you find away of sealing both ends good while using the stuff as per instructions ,  ( spray bomb / rattle can lids & wrapped in ducktape & then cloth  work good  :yesnod: )also make sure the sealing compound /liquid don't block up the vent hole
