They're never "done", but what part did you save or are saving to be the ceremonial "final part" to mark the end of the build or restoration?

I'm saving the "440 Magnum" pie pan.    :2thumbs:

I've got a cask of Sam Adams Utopias (2009) to enjoy as well. :yesnod:

HeavyFuel, I can tell that you are very careful about the details of your engine by the color of the spring as being green on your carburator, and the cover for the air cleaner that you are going to fix up to dress up the engine.  You have a very nice car there, and you will get remarks made by the onlookers about the details of the engine bay for sure.  It is good to see someone going for the originality  as you are doing.

And right now since I'm jerking around with my cutting wheel and welder that is far still away for me......sigh.....oh well some day.

I'd say the sign it's completed is the wax.  You pull it out, wash it and then wax it.  Then stare at it for the next several hours.    :2thumbs:

License plate?

I have a pair of vintage ND plates, 1966 base, with 1968 tags on them. :yesnod:

I thought about saving those for last. :scratchchin:

Similar to this, but mine have '68 tags.

Maybe I'm just too nostalgic......but I enjoy making connections to the cars roots where I can.

My car rolled out of Hamtramck on 2 Feb '68, and I'm reasonably sure that the first owner registered my car on 5 Feb 1968, because that is the date on the little card in the original owners manual that they fill out at the dealership when you take possession.  Mine was a 'sold' car, which explains the mere days between completion and it being in the owners hands.

So......I'm gonna go to the DMV and register it on 5 Feb 2013, exactly 45 years later, with plates from 1968. :yesnod:

I know.... :coocoo:
