I was installing my transmission mount and one of the bolts is stripped. What are my options? I was thinking about heli coil or go bigger.

I helicoiled EVERYTHING on my tranny and saved from future striped holes again ( I got practicaly every hole on tranny stripped lol )

Once you Heli-coil the hole you might consider going to a stud/nut instead of a bolt...the factory did in later years.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I wen't to studs on starter motor... top and bottom.

what I don't get is why starter motor got a bigger bolt hole to the top location :shruggy:

sorry the highjack, but just came to my mind now

Maybe to help hold the weight of the starter?

Nacho-RT74

the hole is bigger on starter but both top and bottom bolt/studs are the same size

I ended up using a longer bolt. I had a 1" and went to a 1 1/2" bolt where the threads were better further in.

the larger bolt hole leaves some wiggle room for alignment I believe theory says the bolts holes & cup for the tip of the starter should all be in the same place in relation to each other  but .....
