I drilled holes in to the rubber, then went after it with a vise-grip.  Worked pretty good, and didn't heat up the bar.

One of my orginal brackets was beat up, and to get a replacement was becoming a PITA.....besides the hassle of putting in the new rubber......so I went the Energy Suspension route.    Part # 5.5135 for stock 15/16 inch anti-sway bar.

Poly bushings, greasable.  I painted the gold brackets black, and went with some grade 5 natural finish bolts/nuts.

It's about the only thing that is not correct factory looking when you view the car.....I'll get over it.

for the OEM bar  , i thought i remembered seeing them a wile ago but could not be sure ,

TUFCAT

I'm in the same boat with you guys regarding front sway bar bushings....so just for kicks I checked in my 1967 Factory service manual which says:

"If the rubber insulator bushings show excessive wear or deterioration install new bushings"

....in bold print

"the sway bar cushions are not serviced seperately. If replacement is necessary, install a new sway bar assembly"

WTF Chrysler ???  :shruggy:

I was able to do my poly bushings WITHOUT cutting the brackets...took a lot of cursing & swearing but I got them in with a lot of lube & vice grips....  :Twocents:

Same here. Didn't even think of cutting and welding. It was such a b!tch.

i just took my sway bar apart. i used a couple screw drivers to get the rubber out of the bracket and then cut the rubber bushing to get it off the bar. took a little time but i had no intention to save anything. i did not need to brake the weld.

i can see how a poly bushing would be hard to install so i will be getting a rubber bushing.  i am getting the bar powder coated and will paint the bracket because i know i will be banging on them to get the new bushing on and will need to touch up.

if any one wants a deal on new poly bushings i will sell you mine.

Well I just finished the job.  I installed the poly bushings on the bar.

I put them in the microwave for 30 seconds and they went easily over the end and slide up the bar.

I did split the mounting bracket and re-welded. Went very nicely.
