was rewatching the chop cut rebuild episodes where they were working on the xp hemi and wishing mine would go together that fast.  several times during the shows they talked of the 'historical significance' of the car and then proceded to rebuild it with  aftermarket parts.  i am sure the modern parts improved about every aspect of the car,  but if the car is truly 'historically significant', shouldn't they have put it back together stock?  the car will never be driven over a few thousand miles and will probably end up in a museum.  in 50 years it will be a 1969 car with a bunch of parts that don't belong on it.  just my opinion.

FLY NAVY/Marine Corps or take the bus!

I agree. they changed every piece of sheet metal, now how does that make it an original car? i didnt like how they put aftermarker everything on it, things that it would never have come with from the factory. if thats ok to do, what is wrong with taking our 318 cars, and turnning them into RT's? they built a brand new car, not a 69 charger. in my opinion, they ruined every aspect, of the car.

:iagree: I too think if the car is one of one,it should have been kept bone stock. :shruggy:

i think the way that they did the car, an original or restored to orginal, matching numbers 318 car, would be worth more. just my opinion.

Agreed again. It's a nice car for sure, the owner did what he wanted to though. So no harm, no foul.

Re: the Barn Find Charger...

"...While checking out the car, one person at the Survivor Tent told me that Dan, the guy from Chop Cut Rebuild, was at the car on Saturday taking notes on how to put the XP Charger back together. Something about a few extra parts leftover in a box from the show"

i don't care if people paint their car pink and purple with white shag carpet as a headliner.  it's their car and it should fit their tastes.  just don't take a  'historically significant'  car and turn it into a resto mod. :rotz:

Not pertaining to just this particular car, but I think all hemis and factory 6 pack cars should technically left as stock as possible.  But, this particular car only has bolt on goodies on it ( I believe), so it could be put back to factory appearing very easily if the owner chooses.  But, to restomod a car, it should be done with a lesser standard model.  Leave the rare cars to those with money who thrive on these special cars. :2thumbs:

That car was so far gone, what does it matter how they brought it back.  :shruggy:

It came out during the show that it was not the car the thought it was and it's just a regular old hemi car with a mis-stamped VIN. Matching numbers restored hemi Chargers are bringing in 110-140K. So, what's a 'restored' and modified hemi car worth that's 99% non-original?  :shruggy:

Waay less.  Not likely this thing is going into any museum anytime soon.  You never know though.
