Trump has a "reality" show (what reality that is I'll never understand) just like the Jersey Shore, the Kardashian skanks, all the nimrods from MTV, etc. This will tell you exactly what they really are all about......total BS.

I'm glad Gilles said what he said, Trump is a sack of crap that thrives off attention.

Personal opinion, Trump is no idiot.  The guy is right.  While calling out O- on his legality might be a little much,  he's right about where this country is going to go.

Might as well lock the thread now.   ::)
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Ghoste

I wonder if Trump owns all American built cars or if he is more of a Mercedes kind of guy?

JB400

Does he even own a car that doesn't have a chauffeur?

Your right, I'm pushing the limit.  I fixed it.  I wouldn't mind knowing why a thread got locked though.  We was only talking about what the consequences will be.

Dino

I wonder how many chaufeurs he owns...

In his opinion?  All of them.  Even at that, somewhere in his kingdom there must be a need to purchase or lease vehicles and I doubt he supports with his wallet what his spews.  But then again he might.

Cooter

Yeah, there are those who spew that "Buy American" crap all over every forum, but when it comes to their own kids going off to school/college, they are usually in a Honda...

Topics that are politically themed end in disaster pretty quick. Even some of the ones that don't start out that way, end up that way. (Been guilty of adding gas to the fire myself) Once a person adds a hint of their political opinion to make a point & it appears that they have gotten away with it, others jump in adding more to it or making a counter point.

By the way, there's a big message on the top stating why threads get locked or deleted, maybe you missed it?

I can proudly say that all I have driven my entire life is MoPar products. My kids bought their own MoPars.  My brother has them.   Dad always had em along with my Uncle.

Not only do I spew BUY AMERICAN, I back it up.     :Twocents:

Me too.  Of course this is the part where someone comes on and states how all of the Big Three have plants in Mexico and Canada and how HOnda and Toyota have plants in the US and it doesn't matter where the profits ultimately end up because the Asian car makers employ Americans and domestic dealers have crappy attitudes and Asian cars last longer etc etc.
I like what I like, feel free to do the same.

JB400

I'm one that sticks with tradition.  If it started out as American, it's still American.  I'll stay that way until I come across a product I don't like.  For example, Zebco reels.  The older ones lasted for decades.  Then they went overseas and redesigned it, now I can't even get one to last a full fishing season.  I ended up going with a Pennacle reel.  Best one ever.

If it started as American, it's still American.

It certainly does matter where the profits end up. Big 3 remain here.  Yeah - even Chrysler.  I don't even want to know how many billions have been siphoned from us here and ended up in Japan.   Cars are big ticket items. You can only do this so long before it effects us all.   Hey wait!   We are being effected.....     :'(

Up in the rust belt guess what - junk yards are full of rusted out Toyotas and Hondas!  And I'll see them on wreckers and tow trucks, too.   Like any other car...  :scratchchin:

Yep, and I bought my 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 thinking that same Sheeple way too...However, when I looked at the decal that read: "Built in Mexico", I certainly don't think if you bought ANY so-called american vehicle after around 1995, it isn't all American. Besides, last time I checked, Mopar hasn't been "mopar" for at least 20 years now. That new HEMI we/they like and adore? I got news, better not shun the guy that drives that Mercedes AMG too hard, as he's liable to tell you we/they are driving a Mercedes 5.7/6.1 liter Hemi, and 4.7 V8....

NOTHING is "American" anymore, but these Chargers. If all original with NO REPLACEMENT PARTS, it and ONLY IT can be deemed truly "American"...
The rest? Foreign...Plain and simple. But, if it makes you feel better, you go right on believing you aren't supporting the "Fix-it-again-Tony" croud by buying that brand new Dodge Dart/Charger/Challenger/whatever...I proudly drive a Toyota Pick up. Best damn little truck I've owned cept for my 600K miles Superu. I make no bones about it. Toyota employs Americans to build their vehicles. I'm putting money in their economy's as well as here.

Lemme ask you this one? Where do 99% of AMERICANS shop for groceries (Including me)??? Instead of the corner grocer where a loaf of bread will cost you $8.00??
Wal-Mart. Yep, where they employ illeagal Aliens, and most of their stuff is bought from overseas companies.

I don't know any Americans that go to Walmart!   :eek2:

Actually working for Chrysler, yes, I do know a little about things that go on there....  We were hijacked by Daimler. Left for dead. Things are looking up now.

You make some good points about the "Global Economy" though. Ever notice the more global it gets the worse the US is doing? Hmmm, could be that sending our money overseas is catching up to us.

Being turned into a "Service Industry" from a Great Manufacturing Country is what the problem is and it's been happening my entire life.

Could you imagine the outcome of WW2 if we were the same country back then as we are now?    :shruggy:
I really can't imagine a Toyota plant making tanks for us....   :rotz:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

JB400

There is no way we could pull off WW2 now adays.  We no longer have the dedication.  We've been sold out by our government and big business.  Besides, we'd have to shut up the media.  Look what the media did for Vietnam.

Ghoste

And the citizenry.  If everyone refused to purchase items without a "Made In USA" tag on them instead of reaching for the item that was cheaper.  It wasn't just big business or government or media or unions or Wal Mart, it was everybody.  We all had a choice where our dollar goes.

Um yeah, and how many times have I heard "Dude is CRAZY if he thinks he's gonna get that much for that Charger"? How many right here refuse to admit they too shop a Wal-Mart cause it's Cheaper. I just have the balls to post it. I make no bones about it. I buy foriegn, whatever's cheaper becasue I don't make $75K,$85K,$95K,$100K like some right here on this site do. Hell, some make that kinda money and STILL SHOP AT WALLY WORLD!?!?

Cheaper will ALWAYS win. Fight it all you want, it is a proven fact.
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

Ghoste

I'm not fighting it or arguing with you, I stated flatly that everyone is to blame.  Yes, cheaper will always win because we all think that our one contribution doesn't matter.  Whether its buying at Wal Mart (or AMD ironically  :D ) or flinging our cigarette butt on the ground, each one adds up and we all do it.  Its as plain and simple as that.

JB400

I will admit that I shop at Wal-Mart but, I have to admit that not everything is cheaper at Wal-Mart.  I think the appeal of Wal-Mart is the one stop shopping.  But, if the US was to buckle down and buy our own stuff, China would just copy our stickers and place them on thier products.  For the record, I'm seeing a lot more stuff from Malaysia and India.  China is no longer the bottom feeder.  Their economy is growing.

Mike DC

The US manufacturing industry is gone because the exact same forces that created it in the first place just continued to work.  The small and medium size towns across the USA originally got those factory jobs a couple generations ago because it was cheaper labor than companies could get in the larger US cities.
