i had heard that also  , very hard to believe he was such a bubbly guy  ? Man i just can't understand it .

 I know he had some health problems and we had talked about my diabetes diagnosis alot a year and a 1/2 ago . He was a great help.

yes we messaged about diabetes  too ,i had just been put on this new type of tablet for type 2 , & he had been on it for a long time , & was saying about this other one , thats not good , really need to stay away from

Please note that I'm not trying to criticize or be on a soap box, what happened is bad enough for his family to deal with, but you guys need to ask yourselves a serious question. Is making a public announcement on the internet regarding the specifics to the cause of death really necessary? Seems that it should be kept private & that his family are the only ones that should make that decision.

If the family truly wanted it posted, then just ignore this.

i was searching for pics from the Mats when i met him (only time i get to meet anyone on here but someone already posted it) and that wind storm took the barrier into his ccar and trailer.  I would of been going bexerk about it if it was mine but he just smiled and said that the way things happen.
after seeing his car i was embarrassed to take him by the house to see my rusted junk, wish i had offered now, bet he would of been happy to see it anyway

I never got the chance to talk with Steve face to face, but we have known each other for many years thanks to the 1st gen forum. I feel as though I have lost a family member... that's how it is sometimes. You find folks on line that you just click with, and bonds are formed over time. Then someday, if your lucky enough, you finally meet them in person and it's just like two old friends who haven't seen each other in a while.
I'm really going to miss him... I still cannot believe this has happened.

Very sad to hear this! My deepest condolences to his Wife, Family and Friends.
I met him at Mopars at the strip in Vegas in 2010 and he was a very friendly guy.

He wil be missed...

I met Steve and his wife at the show in Napa. He was very nice and easy to talk to. I was looking forward to getting to know him better. My sincerest condolences to his wife.

I have tried about 15 times to make a post, but never made it to the end of what I wanted to say before losing it again. We'll see how far I get this time.

We have known Steve & his wife since 2005 when he joined the first generation forum back then. We talked a lot, then we decided to meet face to face in 2006. They drove up from Sacramento and we drove down from Seattle to about half way and we ended up in Grants Pass Oregon at a bed & breakfast for the weekend. We had a great time getting to know one another. From that point on, we made it a yearly event to get together for a weekend. Either they drove up to our place, or we flew down there to spend a few days together. There were 3 years that we each drove to a car show just outside of Eugene, Oregon as well. We stayed at the same hotel those 3 years.

When I got home from work each night for the last 5 years, I would settle in my chair with my laptop and Steve & I would talk on the "instant messenger" system about anything. We would tell each other what we did that weekend, what we were gonna do the following weekend, he would always ask about my wife's heart issues and my back problems. If he had a car issue, I would help him with advice and parts. If I had computer problems, he would help by taking over my computers by remote control and fix mine while he was sitting in his chair in his own house. He had a talent for computers that I will never ever have.

I talked to Marie the other night, offered my sorrow and if there was anything she needed, we are there for her. We know the "how", "where", and "when" in regards to what happened to Steve, we just don't know the "why" this took place, and I suppose we never will.

I have no motivation to go out to my garage and even look at my cars....I have lost one of my best friends and will never know what happened.

I'm having a very hard time dealing with this and not sure what to do about it. I keep waiting for an email or instant message from him so I can wake up from this nightmare.....

This is horrible news and it saddens me.  I enjoyed his updates as Steve was working on his car and his joy at its completion.  My condolences just seems so insufficient.

Dear A383Wing, that was one of the nicest from the heart posts I've read in a long while.  I respect you for posting that.

I almost met Steve at a show when I spotted his car. I waited around but never had the chance to met him. I wanted to congratulate him for all his great engineering, hard work, and dedication to build a beautiful car to enjoy on long distance trips. Unfortunately I never had the chance. Just one look at his car and you knew it was something special. He was a genius in may ways. I'm sorry to have missed what would have been a great conversation about Mopars.
