Absolutely Amazing!  Funny as hell, but not what I want my child to watch, which is why we don't have cable anymore. When I called to cancel, I thought the customer service guy was never going to quit asking me why?  In the end I just told him that I wasn't buying what he was selling anymore.

You could get a DVR.  I have had one now for 6-7 years and except for the Superbowl, I never watch commercials.

You're right, A DVR would likely solve that problem.  It's more than just that though....television doesn't reflect my values anymore.  It is a mindless waste of time at a minimum, and an insidious form of population control at it's worst.  It is a very powerful medium that is being welded in a very deliberate fashion and I'm just not going to pay $60/month to abet it.  We rent movies and buy old TV series (that were much better entertainment) when we watch it now, which isn't anywhere near as often as it once was.  We eat together again, and we all read alot more.  Probably the best thing is that I don't go to bed all worked up over something stupid like politics or a murder mystery.  Life is better without it.

:iagree:  Anyone without a brain can watch it as intelligent shows are far and few between. Mindless twaddle that leaves me either numb or completely frustrated.
It's best left turned off.

I used to watch the Discovery and History channels all the time.  Only two channels worth watching ( except speed) until they went to new programming last year.  Now the only thing worth watching are cartoons like Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry.  Even those are hard to find any more. :icon_smile_dissapprove:

TV was once the primary source of news and information for the general population (as newspapers and radio had been before that).  With the advent of the internet and all of the new digital information devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.) the TV is no longer necessary. Since I now pay (dearly!) for my information, I have little tolerance for political spin mascarading as news or crappy, pornographic commercials.  TV has been so dumbed down, even the writing on the DOH series seems pretty good now by comparison.  New TV shows are absolutely painful to watch and some are even retreads of older series.  No thanks.
