Restoration shop is selling this car on ebay.  Has had body redone and includes parts like AC, interior, brakes, etc -- but no drivetrain and missing a lot of other parts.  Nothing is put together.  Ad says there is already $50k invested at this point.   :eek2:  Was the plan a $100k car?

But the ad says 'HEMI' in it... worth 50K right there

In my experience there's basically no limit to what a shop might claim to have invested in an unfinished car.  I swear some of the numbers are higher than they would dare to claim if it was actually finished.

Not only is there not a hemi in the $50k "spend", there is NO DRIVETRAIN AT ALL

MoparMotel

That's crazy, no idea how they pulled $50k out of that. My grandma lives in San Luis Obispo, actually in Grover Beach which is kind of inside San Luis. When I go to visit her in 3 weeks I'll have to swing by there shop and check it out. There about a 2 1/2 hour drive from me.

I believe that 50k figure comes from the labor.  Might explain why the shop has it instead of the owner :shruggy:

That is why I would NEVER get involved with a restoration shop, 99.9% of them are thieves!  I was lucky enough to get involved with a guy who did body work about 20 years ago, who also was a MOPAR fanatic and did some restorations out of his garage, he basically taught me how to do body work and such.  His work was always flawless.  Best bet nowadays is to buy a car already done right, much cheaper in the long run, especially at this time with depresssed prices.
too many to list!

The problem is not the restoration shops, it's people not doing their homework.  If people would do some research, they'd find the really good shops, but people are gullible.  But, that's why we have websites like this :2thumbs:

I can tell you this " I have done 6 full restos in my garage the hard way and I would never soda blast or media blast a car to bare metal and let it turn to rust while working on it like the car in this add is !"
IMO I would give the guy 15 grand tops! for the way the car was preped unless he could prove he had the car acid dip before paint!
But hey thats just me i live int he rust Capital USA I know how to build with out rust !
