So today I thought I would put my water pump housing on .It went on fine but when I tried to put my alt bracket on I noticed it did not match up.This is a 68 383 non ac car.I got looking at pics on here and seen what the problem was.My water pump housing is not the same as the ones on here,I see the triangler bracket that says (top) on it ,that I have! But the hole in the water pump housing that is threaded on top by the thermostate is not there. So I got another housing,it has the hole in the right place for my alt bracket but the lower rad hose inlet is on the wrong side.the feul pump side.WTF :brickwall:

There was a change in the WP housing in '69, '68 and earlier housings will have a casting number ending in 007 while '69 and later will end in 987....each housing has a specific triangular alternator bracket.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
