By the time anybody restores the car after purchase, they won't get their money back.  I'd buy it, and leave it as a survivor.  I'm a dollar or two short though.

I like it sounds like a fair buy.

yeah if you look at the rarity its super rare (only high volume dealers got it), but in my eyes its just another 70 charger (since I dont care about matching numbers, rarity, etc..) out of my league for sure.

Neat car, but the pac rac just kills it stone dead for me , how ever did that get offered as an option on a Hemi powered car
Old Dog, Old Tricks.

did the front bumperettes only come on the se's, or were they on option?   as large as these cars are the extra chrome looks good.    thanks

That's an odd angle to take pictures of the carbs (from the rear). Makes me wonder how bad the front of the engine & engine compartment looks. Regaqrdless, if it's matching numbers & all origina & in decent shapel, I'd say that 65 large is about right.

Rolling_Thunder

If it was a 4-speed I'd think about it...    but if I was going to drop huge coin It wouldnt be on an auto...
It is listed 15mins from LAX in the beach cities...    it must be around 10 minutes from my house...

Not a survivor.

The motor is hurt. Pushrods bent. And heads are currently off it. Couldn't verify vin numbers on block.

Not mentioned in the ad is that when it was hit a yellow: frame, inner fender and radiator support were spliced into the car. So radiator support numbers are missing.

I saw an AAMCO receipt from 1972 that the original trans was grenaded and it was listed as "non rebuildable core" so no numbers trans.

Car has potentional though.

Nope. Not from the ad.

Here's the yellow top radiator support, inner fender, passenger frame rail, fender. When I looked at it close the work was done real nice from a donor car. The lost radiator support numbers were the bummer...

DadsCharger00

ya know...they are shopping this car hard. It was also under craigslist here where I live as well....scam? :scratchchin:

Dodge Don

$65k for a car needed a full restoration is too high (by a long shot).

Now here is where I get annoyed. It would appear he has contacted Galen Govier and his "Chrysler Registry".....last I checked he only had around a few hundred 70 Chargers registered whereas the 70 Charger Registry has 2800+ registered. There is no data that definitively says there were 9 Hemi R/T SE cars built in 70. Chrysler sales records do not specifically break out SE cars by other options. We know there were 112 70 Hemi Chargers built and we know that 15.5% of all 70 R/T cars came with the SE option. Until we get every single car registered there is no way to make definitive statements like that. He notes only 4 verifiable remaining.....well then how do you explain that we already have 8 Hemi R/T SE cars registered...all verified.

Just because Galen only has 4 registered does not mean that only 4 are left in the world

Garburators, manifold, heads, wheels and radiatorsnumbers all match.
 -All parts is in there.
-Interior is all original and very good shape
- garage kept over 25 years (may be not a good things)
- RT SE, luggage rack, black, vinyl deleteoption
-not many made ( 16 st, 10 manual, and 6 auto)
-R-code

Bad things:
-No correckt trans, changed -73
-No numbers behind the radiator, because, both fender, hood, mask, right inner fender and other frame is changed -76, because it was bad accident.
-price, but the buying price is not the price, what you know.

Happy for you, what a car to have. Wow a Hemi Charger. :2thumbs: Back in the 70's if they new what they where going to be worth today they would of kept that bent/smashed up radiator support, blown engine and trans. Its still a real Hemi Charger and another one saved as its now in good hands. Cant wait to see the progress of this one. :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

"Early Merry Christmas!"

:2thumbs:

With the naked eye it was very tough to see the engine stamping. The seller had warranty pamphlets, but I don't remember there being any documentation connecting those directly to the car. So in person it appeared to be a warranty block.

But with these small digital cameras, you can get pictures from angles your physical body cannot reach. Especially with the car not on jackstands or a lift. So looking back much later and magnifying the pictures....

You can see these digits in this picture: 0G22276 the last number is covered by grime and paint. VIN is XS29R0G222766

autoxcuda, to me that's definitely 0G2227.

The 7's vertical stroke is pretty much straight up until the last minute & veers to the right for the top horizontal stroke.  I went through both external hard drives trying to find a St. Louis engine VIN to explain what I think I'm talking about.

tyly says it's not even a correct block?  The pic clearly shows that not only is it possibly correct, meaning within 90 days, but it might be the original block.  It's definitely a St. Louis '70 block, to me that's half the battle.

If it's a warranty block, it was restamped.  Interesting to see what the top #'s say by the distributor.
My buddy, who rubs elbows with Galen, says that he told him the mechanics were instructed to stamp the VIN's on the warranty motors so who knows.

Ghoste

That's what I thought I had heard before too, they were supposed to stamp but almost none did.
