What's a good scope for a Ruger 10/22?

I have a 10/22 that my Dad bought during the 1965 Watts riots.  It's still like new, but I'm not.  My 64 year old eyes are not what they used to be.  I don't need anything too expensive, just something that would be good for up to a hundred yards or so.  Any ideas?  Thanks, Bob

I need more info before I could recommend a good scope. What are you going to do with the rifle? Do you want adjustable power or is fixed ok for you? What is your approximate price range. In this thread we have 2 very different spectrums of scopes. a cheapy, and a relatively high end. You could spend anywhere from =about 75 bucks up to thousands depending on what you want.

Certainly no need for anything high end.  I have no special purpose use for the gun.  The reason I asked the question is that I have an over population of wild turkeys on my property.  They need to be taught not to come close to the house and mess up the yard with their droppings.  So, I plan to reduce their population a bit and fill my freezer with turkey breasts.  I'd like to just do them in with a head shot with the 22 rather that use the 12 gauge and be picking buckshot out of my teeth.

Try the BSA red dot. it is not a scope but once sighted in you will hit what you aim at. they run 25-45 at most sporting good stores. I have two on two of my rugers and they will hit every time out to 50 yards, 30mm tube and the red dot has adjustable brightness. These are one of the best things for old eyes.  BSA, Burris and Bushnell all make them plus everyone else but for the price and what you need it for you cant beat the BSA.

then that tasco is a pretty good scope for what your after. Also some of the low end weavers will fit the bill. you can get most of those cheap scopes for under 2 bills for rimfire rifles.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.  I plan on going to Cabela's in a couple of weeks and will check out what they have.  Bob
