Wow,,,
I can't believe it's been 15+ years now since I graduated college and started working for the company I only wanted to work for then, Schlumberger. For those that don't know, Schlumberger is one of the largest, if not the largest, Oil and Gas Service companies in the world (some people may have heard of Halliburton and/or Baker-Hughes-these are competitors in the market). I have gone from working as a Seismic Data Acquistion Seismologist down in the swamps of Gulf Coast Louisiana, Reflection Surface Seismic Data Processing Geophysicist to my current role as Microseismic Geophysicist monitoring real-time Hydraulic Frac. Operations. With Schlumberger, I have been able to see the World (most Europe) and get paid to do it !!!  Well, today is my last day !!!!

I have been given a grand offer to go work for Chevron as a Seismic Data Processing Geophysicist and start Monday... Soooooo, it will be totally weird "NOT" being a part of Schlumberger, but as I teach my children, change is good...... It is what you make of it that counts...............  Even if it is self-induced.......  :)

Here I am on one of my field jobs as a microseismic geo-wennie.. :)

I'll update my gig once I get to Chevron on Monday........

  Good for you.  :2thumbs:  Will you be home more with the new job?

I really didn't go out much, every once and a blue moon. But, when I did, it was fun. The new position will primarily be one in the office downtown..

Not trying to rain on your parade.    I have taken that job that gave me the big raise, albeit not that big... and it was far from what it was sold as. Guess I am just a bit more cynical/cautious now.

Still, I do sincerely wish you all the best with it.  :yesnod: I have had changed jobs and they all worked out well with the one or two exceptions.

Congratulations and best of luck!
Judging by your cars, a "Microseismic Geophysicist" must pay pretty well

It's all good..  :2thumbs:  For me, during my professional years, I've only work for two companies; United States Air Force and Schlumberger.. I was having difficulties with the technical promotion aspect of my civilian employer and figured, what the heck..... Well, this gig landed on my lap, albeit, I've worked my butt off to achieve this....... Sooooooo, we'll see where the next 15-20 years take me...

Well, 3 decades of careful buying, smart decisions and a little luck have paid dividends for me. I have NOWHERE near in the cars in what they are worth, believe me. My salary couldn't afford the Daytona,,,, maybe the 500.

Good luck & all the best. Hope you don't miss being out in the field, but then again I use to love winter. The older I get the less I like the cold. And why are both your hands in your pockets. :scratchchin:.
