Picking up the kids in a police cruiser

We have a 63 Chrysler cop car in the museum so today I decided to pick my girls up at school.  Now my 12 year old, she loved it.  Thought the whole experience was great.  But my fifteen year old...
Well, first of all I see her standing on the sidewalk looking for me and then she sees the cop car and is looking at it.  She recognizes me behind the wheel and I notice her head shake ever so slightly and her gaze drops as she heads across the parking lot to the car.  She gets in and I'm grinning like I got a window seat on the short bus and all she can say is, "Really dad?".  I said, "What?  I thought it would be cool".  She tells me, "next time bring a Ferrari".  I point to the fifteen year old boys standing across the lot and they are obviously psyched to see the old cop cruiser, so I point this fact out to her and  tell her, "those guys are all excited about it".  She looks me dead in the eye and calmly replies, "they're all going to be riding in the back seat someday".

I don`t care what she says, it was cool.   :coolgleamA:

:coolgleamA: That was pretty cool of you.  It'll give your kids' friends something to talk about.  Your oldest will get over it.  Hey, it beats the soccer mom minivan anyday. :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

You know the other cool thing I discovered was that when people see black and white with red lights on top in their rearview mirror, it doesn`t matter if the black and white is obviously from a past era, they slow down!   :smilielol: :smilielol:

Never pass up a chance to embarass your daughter .... :nana:

I'd be more concerned about the boys she thinks will be riding in the back of one some day.  Does she hang out with them?    :-\

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Excellent move!

My 12 year old daughter also tries to pretend like I am not there, or that she is not in the car when I drive her around in the 70 Charger.  Granted, she then tells me she knows I like it, and the first time I took her out, the car was not working so well (it stalled at a stoplight, and then when I got it started, I accidentally lit up the tires trying to recover)  A policeman was behind me but didn't pull me over, and she just slunk down deeper into her seat.

Now it is different.  My son, on the other hand....

It also sounds like your daughter has a good read on you, and the boys, so she sounds like she will take care of herself.

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....
