I know my mother in law loves her Neon SRT-4.  She drives the shit out of it every day.  Nothing wrong with making your everyday ride a little more spiffy [as she says].

That Caliber looks just like a Ford Focus/Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix...  It'll die off soon enough.  That Nitro might be popular though.  Looks like a poor mans H3.  Poor man's, that is, until they decide to shove a neo-hemi in it.

andy74

the caliber may be funny looking, but ill tell you guys-i was at the syracuse auto show all freaking weekend, and that was the only car that dodge builds that got any attention!all wheel drive, leather and a sunroof for under 22grand!

i had the chance to drive it,and it blows away the matrix/vibe and pt cruiser-it is a small car though, and im just hoping we sell some so i can buy parts for my real cars!!!!!

Charger_Croatia

According to some people, Caliber should come here to Croatia this year. That design is standard for European so-called "compact class".
If they decide to offer SRT version here, I wouldn't be surprised if that model become quite popular among youngsters.

The Caliber will sell. The other cars in it's class sell well, IE the Focus, Vibe, etc.  Not sure how an SRT version will sell, though.

The Nitro, I do not predict will sell very well.  Maybe enough to justify it's existence for a while, but still.

Damn! The front end on the new Navigator looks like the backside of a mud fence! :puke:

Remember when car bras were the big rage? The Claiber needs one to hide that ugly mug. :drunk:
The Nitro? Well, from the firewall back, it looks like a decent vehicle...what's up with that front end!?!

Man, we could fill a good sized list of an "ugliest cars" thread just from the pickin's on that site. :rotz:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

The cars get more ugly every year.I can't imagine anyone ever collecting and restoring one of these.

Modern cars are never gonna be classics as far as I'm concerned.  Automobiles peaked in the 20th century.

The car industry has spent the last 25 years concentrating on making cars cheaper & lighter weight.  So now they produce cars more expensive & heavier than ever before.

Yeah, most of those cars have a 'Brokeback' look to me.    :eyes:

That's what people thought about the wing cars, 70 Coronets, 71 Cuda's, etc., so you never know.

Although, I do agree with you.  The collecter cars will probably be Neon SRT-4s, Evo's, WRXs, and the like.

I don't agree with you at all Ghost,..  that's NOT what people thought about wing cars, '70 coronets  etc...

See, you were not around then, I was, us  Motor Heads LOVED the '60s' and early '70s Muscle...
The cars today are as disposable as a $50 Boom-box, while the Classic Muscle Cars were built to last.

No, you missed the point of my post.  Yes, MOTORHEADS loved those cars (True motorheads love all cars that are performance oriented, or at the very least respect them).  The average buyer, however, did not.  The 70 Coronets did not sell well, because they were thought to be ugly.  The 71 Cuda was also called ugly, even by the likes of Hot Rod, and other car mags.  The Superbirds were such slow sellers, many were transformed back into Roadrunners, just to move them off the lot.

However, nowadays, those cars are among the most expensive muscle cars ever made.

I may not have been around back then, but I have done my research.

I agree with that point. I also think that gas & insurance prices played into that quite a bit too.
I could be wrong here, but I don't think today's little buzzbombs like Evo's & WRX's will be too high on the collectibility lists. The reason I say I could be wrong though, is that cars like the friggin' VW Beetles seem to never go away & seem to actually be going upward in value, for some reason.

Maybe not our collectible car lists, but when my generation reaches the age of the baby boomers now, they are gonna want to relieve their youth.  And, right now, Evo's, WRXs, DSMs, those are the performance cars, those are the cars that kids dream about.  In the 60s, 70s, and even the 80s kids dreamed about the Muscle cars.  Now look at them.  In order to enter this hobby, I had to start out with a 4 door Dart, due to everything else being too expensive.

In 30-40 years, Evo's and SRT-4s will be bringing in the big bucks at Barret Jackson.

i hope i die before i see that

Mike DC

These new cars will be valuable, but I don't think it will ever be the same as the amazing run that the 60s-70s American Musclecars have had.  Musclecars have basically been top dog for as long as they've existed and they're all pushing 40 now.  That's rediculous.

(Imagine if this was some other piece of technology . . . imagine if all the film geeks in the country were competing to pay $10K for televisions built in the late 1960s because everyone agreed that the new ones have been crappier ever since . . . this situtation with musclecars is nuts.)

Well the mid 80's Mustangs GT's &  5.0's and IROC Camaros are starting to get some restorations and I guess the imports will also some day. I don't think however that the imports will have as strong of a following in 20+ years as they do now.

Your nuts son! What are you dreaming of?.. a '71 Plymouth R.R. GTX?.. or a Nissan Skyline?..  ???
When the kids today, see my R/T out on the street, they replace their dreams of rice with the memory of my humogus  parade float,..  :o

So maybe rice is all they can get and afford now, but when they get some disposable income in 10 years they ain't gonna dream of  restoreing an Integra.  :icon_smile_wink:

You're out of touch with todays youth, old man. :P ;D ;)

Most of my friends respect old cars like mine.  However, very few of them want one.  The Skyline is to most younger guys (not all of us, thankfully) what the HEMI Cuda is to car collecters.  While I in particular dream of cars made before 1975, my friends do not.  They want the power and speed of our old Muscle, but also want the handling and the luxury of modern technology.  My girlfriends dream car is a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (Evo), for example.

No, Strat, they will not dream of restoring an Integra (at least not the base models), because, like my old Dart (and A bodies in general to some of you guys), the Teggy is a stepping stone.  Cheap car, easy to mod the engine, good handling, etc.  Basically a car to have fun in, while they save for a faster, better car, like a WRX STi.  Or, perhaps a late model LS1 powered F body.

Frankly, I am not worried at all by this.  In fact, I wholeheartedly encourage it (as long as they are actually interested in making the cars perform better, not just putting a wing on the trunk and some subs in the backseat).  Why, you ask?  Because, it will mean less demand for Muscle cars when I'm in my late 40s, 50s, and so on.  Which means good news for me.
