How to I.D. the engine block

The engine was removed from my 1973 charger and is sitting in my garage. I want to sell it unless it is the original engine. How do I find that information?

You should see the last digits of your vin on a stamped pad on the right side (passenger) of the block.  It's down low.

Found the tag!
sorry guys I been trying to gather parts for a car show. Well the engine is a 400 block.
Tag says 6R269342
There is a larger embossed series of numbers up higher that says 4006530-400-10

My vin is WP29M3A128039

so it would appear this engine is not the original.

6Rxxxxxx is from a 1976 vehicle built at the Windsor, Ontario, Canada plant.

Being a 400 it could be from a Dodge Charger or Chrysler Cordoba.
