and not that I'm a big fan of Mopar Muscle magazine or readers polls but there is one in the current issue that is obvioulsy 100% accurate.  They had readers rate their favorite Mopars and numero uno is the 1969 Dodge Charger!

BBKNARF

Gee I thought the 68 would do better then 4th.
68 Charger, slowly in the works, 451 c.i. approx. 535 hp @ the flywheel, so far best time in the 1/4
11.21 @ 119 mph, full exhaust, stock suspension, 4:10s @ 3640 pounds.

Gee, I wonder if a certain orange '69 with a goofy graphics pattern had anything to do with it? :D

In a readers poll, who knows?  There may have been no one but Dukes fans reply to it or there may have been no DOH fans whatsoever reply.  The magazine editors agree with you.  At the end of the day I still say the car is popular on its own and that even though DOH is repsonsible for some of that exposure, it is nowhere near as responsible as some insist.
For this, all that really matters is that the 69 Charger was first.

well that poll applies to general mopar fans, but on this CHARGER SITE the 68 wins hands down  :yesnod:

Wow, it's always been a close race with the 69 though. Impressive that it's been so consistent, then again, you are polling the same group of users over and over so it should mesh somewhat.

I currently own 2 69's so, as far as voting with my wallet goes, the 69 wins hands down. I didn't end up with 69's on purpose though. When doing a search for 68's and 69's, the 69's cropped up faster than any 68's did so that's how it ended up. One of these days though I'd really like to get a 68. As much as I like the 69's I've always loved the round marker lights and tail lights on a 68. Hmm, I need a new wallet, mine isn't thick enough...
