I told you guys I was looking on Craig's list for a car. I was dreaming I would find something low mileage that was taken care of. I called a couple guys I knew also I told them to look for an AT for me. So I'm about 4 pages deep on Craig's list and everything is junk or something I can't afford. So I see an ad for a 84 Daytona Turbo Z . And nosey me had to look at it. It's an AT an has 39000 miles on it after the resto. The motor and trans have about 8000. So I call my brother and he says lets go look at it the pics look good. It's about a 50 min ride from my house so I knew it would be rough on me but we went. We get there and I was the only person the guy let come look at the car . Cause I was the only one that knew what I was talking about. He told everyone else that called it was sold.  He was in his 70's and it was the last car his Dad restored. He had a bad back and couldn't take care of it any more . And he wanted someone that would take care off it. It's not perfect but it is really nice for an 84. Runs great, turbo spools up nice , brand new tires and exhaust. Everything is power and it all works. Except the tach, no big deal. The stereo and steering wheel were replaced but he gave me the orig. And a bunch of extra parts. I had to promise him when I was better , I would come up and take him for a ride in the Challenger.  :2thumbs: My brother said if I didn't buy it he was gonna. So now I have an AT. An it's a Mopar.  :2thumbs: Meet " Gutterboy " Shelby named him. LOL

Shelby loves it. She made me promise I'd never sell it. :2thumbs: I had to teach her about torque steer.    ;)

AWESOME.... My Dad bought a new Shelby Z back in 84 and they're still beautiful cars today. :icon_smile_wink:

The drive back wasn't fun. I called it the drive from hell. I layed on ice packs for 3 days. But I'd look outside and say what a nice car and I don't even want to drive it. But knowing I have something here if there is an emergency helps. Or if Shelby's car is in the shop. And when I'm ready to go back to work.  :2thumbs:  All my car buddies showed up. Jimmy in the 70 Charger 440 4 sp car. Kerry in his 70 Cuda 440-6 4 sp . And Bart in his 89 LeBaron Turbo 5 sp. They wanted me to name it nana. Since it was an automatic. Smart asses  :slap: And thanks to my little bro for lending me the difference to buy it.

My 92 was just an ES , This Daytona  has a newer Jasper motor and trans in it. Rod said the motor is at least an 86, The motor and trans only have 8000 miles on them.

I have owned a 90 Daytona, 91 Turbo Shadow, 92 Daytona and a 93 Daytona. Never anthing this old on this style car. I didn't go into it blind. My mechanic even though he is a Mustang guy. Loves the old Dodge Turbo cars and has owned a few. He has 3 motors,3  turbos and 2 AT on the shelf at the garage. He told me what to look for and not to be scared LOL. Plus my brother had a 2.2 Charger. So we knew what to look for when we went up. Plus my brother was all over and under the car.  :2thumbs:  And I called Rod with a few questions.    And my boss has an 89 Turbo LeBaron so I have people that can work on it LOL
