Just wondering,  anyone know the date that production for the 69 charger began?  Hamtrack MI plant? I did search and didn't come up with the result i was looking for.

First day of production for the '69 model year Charger was 8/1/68....last day was 7/18/69

I do have a pre-production car with an SPD of 7/28/68 registered as well...

Thanks, good to know.  And just to reinforce your website, the F8 charger r/t (green ext/green vinyl top/green interior) that i bought for parts after it hit a telephone pole and got bent like a pretzel had a tail light blackout treatment as well.   I put the motor and tranny from this car in my own 69.  It had 69k orig miles when the motor was pulled and installed in mine.

Does the vin code appear anywhere on the motor itself that can be pulled and reported? I know it should a portion of it, but i thought that was more like the sequence number.

The VIN should be stamped on the pass side of the engine on a flat machined pad where the oil pan bolts up to the block

I'm aware of that engraving spot, but its been so long since i could see it i forget what was there.  I plan on taking all the accessories off the front of the motor to clean and repaint them all as well as rebuild what is needed, I'll try to write down the vin on the block when  i get to it.  I think it had HP2 on it somewhere on that pad.

I think you're confusing the pad at the top of the block with the one by the oil pan.  hp2 would be on the top pad along with the engine size.  The pad with the vin is down by the oil pan.

Yes i was thinking of the pad on the top near the oil pump.  so there is a lower pad near the oil pan? on the front of the block, or from the bottom, as in do i need to crawl under the car to get the vin there? I guess so since the oil pan is down there, where should i be looking at, passenger side, front or back? and is it visible or blocked by the crossmember.  I don't mind crawling under the car, but the spiders will likely attack anything disturbing the webs down there...lol.

In any case I don't think the loss of one triple green is going to affect values much.  I just know one of them bit the dust, but parts of it live on in my car.

   see yellow arrow  ,
early built 69s will have a full vin in this location  , later will have last 7 digits only

take no notice of green arrow , thats D series 68 cars
