Has anyone used Dyna beads instead of wheel weights to balance their wheels? i just heard about this product and am considering them for use in some aluminum slot mags for the wife's 'Cuda.

Never heard of them myself but it is an interesting idea.  I'd want to see a lot of real world results before trying them personally though.

I checked out a similar product (but it was self contained) when I had my Cummins Ram. They apparently work pretty well for large truck tires. The ones I saw were more than I wanted to spend on the cars but these seem pretty reasonable. I have a lifetime balance and rotation on my cars but hate sitting at the tire store so this is something I'd consider.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Yep. First time i saw it done on a set of big, HUGE truck tires I laughed. I didn't after I tried like hell to balance them things for over 1/2 hour and they worked first try.

I've even seen play sand used in a pinch.

I tried it in 19.5" tires. The stuff is fine at a constant speed, but if you're always changing speed, such as in traffic, you essentially have an unbalanced tire/wheel combination all the time. If you're at a constant speed and change to another constant speed, as you would when the speed limit changes, it takes a while for the material to move and settle down in the proper spot.

Nice theory, not so great in reality. My experience was driving from the lower Left Coast to the mid Least Coast and back via Flabama, after which I got rid of the stuff.

Now that wheel weights can't be lead anymore, it's tough to get a good balance, which is probably why it was invented.

From what I understand, Dyna Beads are for assemblies that resist being balanced conventionally. Big trucks, RVs, fat tired 4x4s.
Try conventional methods first.

Dynamic balance has been around for years, and it's mostly snake oil. If it was better than conventional balance, it would be the standard rather than the fringe. Under certain circumstances it can improve tires that shouldn't have been built to start with.

I would never consider putting anything in a tire that creates friction.

Torque converters are for construction equipment.

It is an interesting technology though. I hop it evolves into something more common. The thought of the wheel, tire and hub etc. all being balanced together like used to be common is a great idea IMO.
