Chavez won again... I simply can believe this. I know Venezuelan ppl is mostly ignorant, but I still can't believe still 54% of ppl supports it, after 14 years of fails, promises what were just that. The country is falling down day after day and still there are ppl supporting. Will be 6 years more.

in 1998 when he began we had 6000 ppl killed by criminals by year and that was one of the reasons to vote for Chavez, get a 180º change... this year will get around 15000... now what at the end of next period ? 20000 ? and will ppl still support it ? I hope to be still alive in 6 years. My uncle is not, it is part of those numbers now

Opposition increased from 34% to 44% the votes from 6 years ago but still not enough.

Nacho my friends and I feel your pain. We have been discussing this situation for some time.  :'(

I am sure Troy and Chris will make an exception as this is not US politics. . . or maybe not.  :icon_smile_big:

Anyway, I may be reaching here, and I am just guessing, maybe  your election was probably not counted all fair and square, just a guess.  :yesnod:

To be honest, of course this is what I believe happened.  Chavez was not about to give up his post, and would have done anything to keep it.

Sorry to hear it Nacho but all elections are rigged, It's called whoever has enough money and pays the most people off wins!!! I have seen it first hand at a local level and that's the way it works. All politicians are the same some are just worse than others! All they care about is grabbing enough money and power before their time is up they could care less about the common working man.  :Twocents:
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Sorry to hear about that. Not just for you but all the of the people of Venezuela. When I checked to news last night they said that the exit polls showed Capriles winning. I was astounded this morning when they said Chaves won with 54%. Most likely Chaves and his cronies "cooked the books". Happens everywhere, even in the USA.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."

But are we really more a democracy or republic or a combination? I don't see a dictatorship without a serious civil war first.

there are two statements said by very wise guys which in combination describes everything is happening at this moment...

one of them was a revolutionary singer, recently killed in Guatemala. But a revolutionary that never puts on a side of any goverment, not even "socialist" ones

Facundo Cabral

"Los pendejos son peligrosísimos porque son mayoría y escogen presidentes"

THE IDIOTS ARE VERY DANGEROUS, BECAUSE THEY ARE MAYORITY AND ABLE TO CHOOSE PRESIDENTS

and the great Simon Bolivar, our Libertor

"Nada es tan peligroso como dejar permanecer largo tiempo a un mismo ciudadano en el poder, el pueblo se acostumbra a obedecerlo y él se acostumbra a mandarlo, de donde se origina la usurpacion y la tiranía"

Discurso del Congreso de Angostura, 15 de febrero de 1819

"Nothing is as dangerous as letting remain long at the same citizen in power, the people become accustomed to obey and he becomes accustomed to commanding, from whence comes the usurpation and tyranny"

Speech of Angostura Congress, February 15, 1819

( had to use a web translator to say this last statement, sorry if sounds weird )

Funny is, Chavez allways talks about Bolivar, but never says this statement.

From what I read in the local papper, he bought the votes, just like any politician,  i.e., public housing free health care, give the masses the oil money, spread it around. May be the masses are thinking since he has cancer, not long to live, get what you can. :Twocents:

I'm not sure what you mean by guns regulated. If you're referring to registered, I've heard the figure that less than 5% of guns are correctly registered. One of mine is only because I bought it new. Ammo is easy to buy. They only gain the control that the masses ,or sheep if you will, allow them to have.

Ice T said it correctly a while back. During an interview overseas he said our second amendment protects us from the police. Well he was almost correct. It allows us to protect ourselves from our own govmnt. As long as we maintain the unlimited right to keep and bear arms we stand a better chance of remaining a free nation. The really sad thing is a lot of people in our country are willing to give up the one thing that makes us who we are.

Ammo is not inventoried anywhere, at least around here. I can go buy as much or as little as I want with no ID required. Same way with gun auctions. As long as you have money you can buy it. That's just the way it is.

bull

As touched on previously, the majority will continue to enslave itself to the government based on whatever politician promises them the most ease and comfort. Nevermind what's good for the country in the long run; that's secondary to me getting what I want right now. "Ask not what your country can do for you..." The idea of self reliance and personal responsibility continues to fall by the wayside as Big Brother takes more and more self-made dependants under his wing. The US has thrown another $5.5 trillion into the toilet during the past four years to put us at a total of $16 trillion in debt. US debt now exceeds 100% of the nation's gross domestic product but much of the citizenry is too short-sighted and self-centered to give a damn.

For me personally to keep things from getting out of hand, I think we should just stick to smileys and no quoting each other.  Anything else could be deleted, just to keep from hurting each other.

Nacho mi amigo,
mi corazón sangra por la gente de Venezuela.

It is little different here in America. Only those who have the most money get ALL of the media coverage. Any 3rd, 4th etc party candidates don't stand a chance of getting their message out. No dinero. We are trapped between the fat cat on the left and the fat cat on the right.

If we, the citizens of the USA, begin to seriously question the "leadership" we WILL be accused of sedition. We will disappear. Our government is simply too big controlled by huge corporate interests controlled by very old money controlled by a certain middle eastern country who since the end of WW II has made the world continue to feel guilty about atrocities suffered and now control the money system and the media in this country. We have been subdued for many decades. There are many who will call foul over my point of view but reality speaks for itself.

A revolution of biblical proportions would be required to retake our country back by the people. Meanwhile many many people will die and quite possibly, during this tumult, our country would be invaded by another rendering all the death and destruction meaningless. I believe it has gotten this bad here.  :Twocents:

The USA is in debt because the public hasn't given a damn about it in decades.

Democrat, Republican, that's not the consistent factor.  What IS pretty consistent is that we vote against fiscal responsibility in favor of promises & borrowing.  We do it almost every time, decade after decade, regardless of which party that means voting for.

This isn't a recent development.  Obama's deficits are huge.  Reagan's were also several trillion if you adjust for inflation.

I remember a local news report several years back (during the height of Brady Bill mania) where the cops did a drug bust, and the reporter kept talking about their 'arsenal of weapons' with 'over TWO THOUSAND rounds of ammo'

They had Hi-Point 9MM (piece of complete crap) and a Henry 22 along with a few 500-count boxes of .22LR that you can get at Wal-Mart.

That is our problem, the media.  They make a big deal out of such small stuff or favor a certain politican, and everyone that makes a benefit out of it suffers.
