Don't worry, you're not alone in that boat. I just inform them Ive paid for everything myself and done as much of the work on it that I could without help.

And even if you didn't work for it...............so what.  It's nobody's business how you came upon them.   Too many brainless wonders running around these days.
The thing is..............you can't educate an idiot, so don't even bother trying.

You make a good point it doesn't matter how you got it all that matters is that you have it :) I do have to say this tho our 69 is a general lee and I have had people come up and ask if we made it look like the ond in the show on purpose....  :brickwall:

hater's gonna hate indeed.

I've gotten it as well. Also, I loved that when I had my 1973 Dodge Charger-which had a 400-some old farts were like "Chrysler never put out a 400. I know, I was around back then, SON".

It got so annoying that I started to keep a book on the history of the b-bodies/Chargers and I had a page bookmarked to show them..."oh, really? I don't know my car? Chrysler never made a 400? lets see here...."

that's awesome I really need to do something like that for my 69 get so many people telling me I'm wrong on stuff and I have a 440 six pack in it and you won't believe how many people ask why I didn't go with a 440 HEMI.....really people there's so many things wrong there  :rotz:

Fred

I used to get that a lot with the Cuda. They'd tell me there's no such thing as a Cuda...........it's a Barracuda and people just prefer to say cuda because it's easier.
Beat that!

Think having to "Explain"(Bullsh*t questions/comments) yourself is bad with owning just a '68 and '69 Charger? Try owning a General Lee.

Just remember, like owning a Vette/Viper/Porche/other exotic Sports car, There is NO good time to own these. When your young, your just another rich, spoiled, douche..Buy one when middle aged, your just going through a mid-life crisis....Get a Vette when your the "old fat guy", and your just that, too old and fat to even get out of it....

Get used to it. People see my cars and automatically think I'm loaded.  I built all 4 with my bare hands.
I simply reply: "Well, I'm loaded huh? What did you drive here?"
Reply: "My 2012 truck"..
"How much did you pay for that thing?"
Reply: "Gotta good deal on it only paid $48K"
Well, You add what I got in ALL 4 Of my cars and you couldn't buy that truck".....

People see Barrett Jackson Prices and think the owners are loaded in order to own a musclecar at all. Many times this isn't true. Some folks can build sh*t out of an $800.00 turd...

Course, all this is is for nothing if you really ARE a rich, spoiled douche with daddy's money and are just on here looking for sympathy. I hear some say "You shouldn't have to explain yourself"..Yeah, yeah,yeah...And I shouldn't have to die and pay taxes either. It's the way it is..Just grin and bear it the best you can.

GOTWING

I tell them just because i have a Superbird, doesnt mean i have Superbird kind of money, i was just lucky enough to find this one through a old friend that knew the family that had it in storage for about 23 years, they were not car people and did not know today's market at all, so i just tell them i have less in it than they have in there new Kia. :D

charger Downunder

My first car was my 70 Charger rt i was 16 at the time still have the car today. I saved up and bought it all by myself starting working part time on farms and after school saved every cent. It cost me $6,500 Australian dollars in 1982.
I coped a bit of slack people would think it was my dads car as it was a very rare car over here.
I worked so hard to get it thats why i still have it today. Enjoy your cars and who cares what others think.

I got that a lot when I joined my old club.. My Charger is my first classic car, and some of the memberd was "That's too much hp for you, you should have started with something smaller" because I put a 511 cui under the hood.. What do they know? I've driven many cars with plenty under the hood.. I'm 33, not some kid who thinks he's superman.. Not member of that club any more.. :)
I'm over people thinking they need to tell me about my things.. If I want advice I'll ask..  :2thumbs:

There's a superman club?  If they give out capes, I'm in!

I don't get any of the comments you get hp383, not anymore.  When I was 20 I had a 68 and I did encounter a lot of jealous people.  But now at 38 I don't get those comments.  Of course the only time anyone would have a chance to say something would be at the pump or a red light, the rest of the time I'm moving.

+1      Folks are just jealous in a lot of cases. I suppose because they can't put forth the effort to fit something into their lives they don't think that anyone else should be able to enjoy the fact that they did.

Be prepared to deal with this your entire life in whatever you do. I have a nice piece of land with a good size house and shop. I have worked my ass off for 30+ years for this. I don't smoke, drink or go on expensive vacations. I've had two employees over the house (helped them with their car). Both are like "wow, must be nice to have all this". Well it's not my fault they both dropped out in 8th grade because of drug use. One guy can't even read a tape measure ::) .
This is only going to get worse as time goes on. This use to be America The land of opportunity. In which you have the opportunity to be successful. It doesn't mean you were guaranteed to succeed. Our current government seems to think that everybody should succeed, no matter how badly they perform.
