do I still use the ballast resistor with msd ready to run dist?
69 dodge charger 383/727/3.55 (my dad is the original owner-matching number) stroked to a 496😉

I assume you are using the same coil so yes the coil needs less voltage , the dist has to have a 12v feed though or it will quit

I would call MSD tech. Their wiring diagrams never show a ballast but they also always show the use of their coil.

A while since I put one in but it seems to me that their printed instructions indicate using the ballast with the stock coil but eliminating it if using theirs. But that could be bad memory.

i just contacted msd tech support and they said you DO NOT use the ballast resistor.
