What's the deal with the front bumper guards?
Were they optional or come with a package?
Never really liked them on any Mopars, breaks up the clean horizontal look for my tastes

Bumperettes were standard fare on the Charger.

I agree.  Actually, I prefer the bumperettes on 2nd gens.  Taking them off cleans them up too much and takes away some of the character of the cars.  Kinda Camaro-ish in my book.

Troy, need to make a correction to your thread. This car is actually Y4 not T3. Saw this car a few years back right after its restoration. Nice car. I think if one does a search on the sight you will see some pics I posted of the car from the Vegas show about 4-5 years ago.

At least it does not have a wing charger_fan_fever..    (.... I am just joking wing guys, after all they are all Chargers we love them)

re: bumperettes  what I find funny is I liked the late 69s when I was young feeling they reminded me of the DOH, now oddly most of my cars are early cars (68-69 low guards) which I now prefer, either way mmmmm 69s.

Removing the rear bumper guards cleans up the back, too!

Because one was designed by stylists to tastefully accent the ends of the car while offering some protection and the other was a government mandated item where form followeed function in order to protect you from yourself.

Yeah, the government has no sense in style.  If they did, maybe the 70's model vehicles would be more desireable.
