divorce does that.....depending on what the lawyers think you have between them its considered an asset.

Fred

But he says he no longer needs to sell but he will anyway.  :scratchchin:
If you don't have to sell..............why sell.

Blue book value for a 318 Charger is $55k, interesting.

If he really wanted to sell it, he'd post some better pics.  But, I'm agree with Fred, why sell?

Say what??
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Back when I got a divorce I sold my Model A Ford to a buddy for $1.00 thinking that if I didn't own it she couldn't get her "portion" of it in the proceedings. WRONG.

6 posts ??? I doubt he would know how to find a PM   Me thinks he came on here with only one purpose, to sell his car and as dumb as we are, we will all have no idea the real value of of a 318 charger.  We will probably get in a bidding war with each other and give him more than his asking price :smilielol:

He tried eBay weeks ago but no sale.  Does anyone know how high the bidding got? He said it's restored but how far I don't know.  If it's a nice clean average resto I'd say he would be looking at half of his asking price = $25k-$27k.  And that's a generous figure in this economy.  Just my 2.5 cents.
Then again, it might be a frame off, nuts & bolt numbers matching original restoration.  That would make it worth more.  I sent him a pm letting him know about this thread so maybe he'll chime in.

He dropped his price from $55k to $32k on Craigslist.  That's a $23,000 price drop.   :o   I think he knows now it's value.    Has 440 in it it and comes with original 318.   Nice looking car.  After seeing the ad and pictures I'd price his car at around $24,000 to $27,000.  That's if it's a full resto and not a bondo bucket.   :icon_smile_wink:

I always wonder about an ad where the seller can be bothered to clean up things like the engine bay and tires/wheels.  Also, the price is whacked.  If, and a big IF, there is no bondo and it has decent paint/bodywork then I'd think the car would be about $20k.

On the other hand, wouldn't we all like to get 55k out of a 318 Charger...I know I would.  No stones thrown here for trying.

I hear ya....    I booked his car and came up with $36,000 in Excellent condition high retail with a 440.   To me that means a top notch show car.  Not sure how he found a $55k book value.   :shruggy:    More detail and pictures under car would help.

I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

jasonspragg

no not a divorce, did that at the beginning of the year and she wasn't getting my car or money from the sale of my car
i said $55k was the high retail and have ALWAYS advertised price at $32k

I bought the car in 2010 drove it and then parked it in storage for about a year before starting on the restoration, I had a buddy of mine who works professionally as a body tech do the body work and paint which took from September 2011 till March 2012, no pics taken sorry but there was no frame off restoration because underneath had no to very little rust. In April of 2012 I had another guy start on the engine which is a 70 dart 440 rebuilt from the bottom up, I had the original number matching 318 cleaned and ready for a stock rebuild when I had the time so I could swap out engines and make it an original show car (when i got done having fun with it)

I am willing to sell the car because it isn't very practical for my living situation, I need a vehicle that I can take camping, pull four wheelers, a boat, and that I can take on road trips without having to spend an arm and a leg for gas, I don't want to but for the right price I would part with her.

Any other questions just ask dont jump to conclusions and make asses of yourselves =)

jasonspragg

oh and about the ebay bid started at 20k and stayed there, had over 1k views and about 18 watchers but no bids reached my reserve of 32k.

I have had plenty of calls on my car and most of them are in the 15-20k range which is understandable but I like most of us on here know the price ranges of old classic muscle cars especially ones that are pretty much original or being sold with original parts like my engine, so yeah I am firm on my $32k price and if it sells it sells if not I'll gladly put her in storage or continue to drive her and then when I'm 50-60 and had all the fun I want out of her I'll swap out the 440 and put the original back in and show car her till my youngest is old enough to drive her responsibly and he will get it

There's a metal tag on one of the bolts of the pumpkin that will say which gear ratio it has.  2.76 to 4.10.  Since it's a 318 car it probably has 2.76 or 3.23 gears in it.  The fender tag will say what gears you have also.

No offense but plugging your car into the NADA site as a 440 car means they gave you a high estimate on an RT.  Just because you added a 440 doesn't mean its equal in value to a factory 440 car.  That isn't to say the 32 price isn't closer and without seeing the car I can't comment, but the high estimate you offer as an incentive to buy at the lower price is a bit out of whack.  Advertising I guess, you can say its worth a million if you want.  :shruggy:

I'm curious, because I've seen this before and don't understand it.............. why in your Craigslist add did you post your phone number the way you did?   Six 4 (three) and so on?   What's the point in that?

Thanks.  Just curious.

sixty8charger

Often times when you post the number as a digital number you can get a lot of calls that are not necessarily relevant to the item you are selling.  When you spell it out and make it inconvenient to the probing sites that try and send drones thorough the net looking for your number, you get real people who are interested in actually calling.   At least that is what I understand of it... :Twocents:

The Chances "There's a metal tag on one of the bolts of the pumpkin that will say which gear ratio it has.  2.76 to 4.10." Chances are it it's long gone.  Remember it 40 plus years old and I bet it's long gone.

Since it's numbers matching car I've got a feeling it's still there.  I've got a feeling this might be a pretty nice car.  Just a feeling.   Then again, Friday night rum & coke could be part of that feeling.   :icon_smile_cool:

I have to agree.  Unfortunately, the car is what it is.  If it was an RT, sure, 318 car, no dice.

Again, I did not want you to think I disrespect you, but since there were few posts, it just seemed strange.

There are many sites you can look at and people to call to firm up that it will be really hard to get close to $30k.   There are many great deals on cars that are RT's or big block cars.

Looks like the original B7 color, according to build sheet.

jasonspragg

the original paint according to the build sheet and fender tag is b7 which is a blue metallic, how ever the paint I went with is called hyper blue metallic.

Ok i see the posts and points about the price for a 318 but i am not selling it at as a 318 car, i am selling it as a 440 car with the original 318 to go with it. And yes I know that since the 440 isnt original that doesn't drive the price up but I am banking on someone to buy it that might have the same plan I had which is to drive her and have fun then when done having fun put the 318 in her and have a number 1 show car

1974dodgecharger

for the price though people exepect a matching numbers car most things over 30k in 2nd gens people expect a matchign numbers or a complete redone touring car from head to toe.

Telling someing to put the original engine back in the car to get the matchig numbers back in there is telling them, 'If you throw 5k in this charger it will double in value' and we all know where those discussions end up at......

Im sure you will be able to sell it eventually to someone who has that thinking that they are 'investing' in something that will increase in value the minute they buy it  ::)

Or you could easily end up with your other plan of giving it to your son, either way you should be happy so its all good.
