I remember Bob Lutz saying they wouldn't build the original Viper unless they could keep it under something like $25K ::)

they could probably sell it for a lot less than that...but it's a halo car. it needs to be expensive. :2thumbs:

I wouldn't.  It's not doing anything for me.  Not ugly, just nothing to write home about.  I'm sure it's fun on a track though.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Fred

Not really.  Use to like them a lot more than I do now. If I had the money, I think I could find something better.

I would get one.  The original concept was the purest but this new one is a badass car.

I bought a blue/white GTS new in October '97 & I had it for 8 years. Back then it was 71 & change.

Chryco Psycho

sign me up , I am a few $$ short though .
the new viper is now mandated to have traction control & abs for the first time , the last true drivers car .

JB400

Unlike most cars on the market, you can completely turn off the traction control on a new viper.  Lawyers won't let them publish it in the owners' manual though.

That is the one I would most want, blue, white GTS and around that vintage.  Guess I'm more of a used Viper customer but I still like the new one too.  There is likely something about all of them, its too bad it wasn't around in the 60's.

You mean something like a hemi powered Shelby Cobra?   Now that would be cool.  It'd piss ALOT of ford guys off.  Kinda like the 5.0 charger idea.  Of course, we'd have to use the Daytona coupe.  Or is there room for 2 Daytonas?

Ghoste

Obviously it would have had to be a little different because Shelby was busy with his own program at the time, but yes, some sort of two seat roadster to battle the Cobras and Corvettes.

JB400

Outside of the Diamante/ Yellow Jacket Challenger, and the 64 Charger concept, did Dodge even do a 2 seat sports car concept?  I haven't ever heard of one yet.

Ghoste

JB400

Done some checking, yeah, the topless charger looks pretty cool.  In 53, Dodge done a concept called the Firearrow.  Styling has a little bit to be desired, but is could have had possibilities in the 60's.

Ghoste

To compete with Cobras and Vettes we obviously would have needed a SMALL two seater on the English sports car car size.  You know, like a competition version of the Jensen or a better developed Sunbeam.

Troy

My boss has had a deposit on one for several months already. As soon as he gets it his current (very lightly used) Viper will be for sale.

I'm in favor of a better Tiger.  It was actually more popular than the Cobra.  I've never been in one, but why didn't they just hack up the firewall to clear the distributor.  High po 318 would have done the car some good.

He didn`t trade it in huh
Um, no. He's too smart to let the dealer screw him on the trade-in value. Probably why he can afford all of his cars. ;)

so what is his used viper ?
Whatever the latest version was. It's about 4 years old I believe.

And what does he expect to get for it?
I have no idea. More than I'm willing to pay I'm sure. He's only selling it because he's out of garage space (and he already has lifts to stack every bay).
