Looking for info on how big the gap between the top of the tailpanel and the decklid is on a 2nd gen. I remember it being rather large.

Thanks!

It is larger than body panel spacing to be sure but instead of trying to match the stock gap, try to make it better as it truly is a bit too large.  Is the trunk panel still removable?  If so, tie something to the trunk lid latch and pull it down onto a new weatherstripping and tie it somewhere in the trunk so the lid sits flush with the top of the quarters.  Put your quarter extensions in place and bolt the trim on, making sure it's as high as it can go.  The trim, not the extensions.  Now match the tailpanel to it so the trim lines up.  You have more wiggle room where tailapanel meets valance so focus on the gaps that are in plain sight.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

You can really only move the panel up so much before you mess up the way it lines up with the quarters and the extensions ect.... The thing to do would be to tig some steel rod to the trunk lip and file it to fit. I may do this, or I may leave it looking factory. Not sure yet. Was really just trying to see what other chargers gaps measured so I could make sure I was at least in the ballpark. Guess I could go put the decklid on my 68 and see how it looks.

Oh yeah, we're talking millimeters here but it's something.  Here's a pic of mine, notice the ds is not flush, but it'll give you an idea.

Interesting how your bumper looks just like mine. A little high on the passenger side. Thought mine was bent.

It sure looks like it's bend but it's probably just crooked.  The valance is all mangled though, previous owner backed it into a low retaining wall and it's a poor bondo repair job.  That combined with the crooked bumper and crooked trunk lid sure make it look like a messed up butt!
