Well, I've been casually looking for an early 70's C Body and late 70's B Body for about 3 months.  I wanted a driver that I didn't have to stick much time or money into it.   My budget was LOW.  Over the last 3 months I looked at Magnums, Fury's and a few Doba's.  

I looked at a 79 300 about 5 weeks ago based on an ad I saw on craigslist.  It was described as a barn find low mileage in REALLY good condition.  Based on the asking price of $5k, it was WAY out of my budget but since I was in Indy I went to go look at it.  Interior is VERY GOOD, mechanically good, but needs to be gone through, and the exterior has some issues here and there but nothing major at all.  Apparently, this car is all original except for the tires and battery.  

I told the owner I was looking at others and would call him if interested.  3 weeks went by and he contacted me.  I told him I was still looking at cars, but he egged me on for an offer.  I told him what I would pay XXX.  He was pissed and I just told him that this is what I would pay.  Two more weeks went by and he contacted me saying he would take my offer.   I told him it was contingent on a drive, and another look over.  Based on being in Indy for Monster Mopar, I drove by today to check it out and it's mine.  

Interior is very close to perfect.  This is why I decided it is too good to pass up.

Exterior needs some TLC here and there, but will try and keep as much of the exterior paint as I can.

Needs a good cleaning on the under carriage, but nothing really bad.  A little body work, and a good maintenance.

Just turned 35,000 miles.  Will have to do the 35k checkup.

Great buy! Does it have the red, white, blue striping that was factory on some of those?  I'm just a young gun and have never seen one in person, only in magazines.

SUCH A GOOD Find!!! Particularly a good leather interior like you have is so rare on these cars....yours looks great! These are great driving cars that have been under valued IMO.  Looks like you scored a great car for little money. Best of luck with it, and enjoy every mile driving this beauty!

It does have the stripes.  There were 4,200 built.  Last of the B Bodies!

Thanks.  The interior is crazy good.  I drove it a few miles today to "test drive" it, but I'm worried the last two owners did nothing to it.  Old gas, oil, trans fluid, antifreeze, on and on and on.

Your right about that.   Been there done that.  According the the history of this car, it may have driven a few years in winter, but the 2nd owner purchased it with 10k miles and used it as a toy.   He had this and a few other cars.  He passed in early 2000, and the car sat until now.

I just don't get people.  Apparently the last two owners (each owned for a month), did absolutely NOTHING to the car.  Wouldn't you think that with a car sitting for SO LONG that you would at least change the oil?  Right when the car came off the trailer, I changed it, and it was like soup- WTF.  I put some new oil and some Lucas oil additive and will hope for the best.  The guy I got this from drove it close to 100 miles.

Took it out for a longer spin today and it definitely needs a tune up.  This thing is original everything.   Drives like a sofa chair on wheels.    It's been since 1988 I drove a Doba... I forgot how good they drive.

One guy had it on from June to July, and then the guy I got it from August to now.  That be it.   When I told him ok when he took my offer, he kept on dropping the price on Craigslist, but no one even came to see it.

When I bought the 73 Charger in my avatar pic, it had sat since 91. It's a low mile car, less than 50k. Even after changing the fluids, rebuilding the carb and doing a tune up it just didn't seem to run just exactly what I expected, but I've since then put a couple thousand miles on it and for about the first 500 miles or so, it seemed like the more I drove it the better it ran. Now it runs just fine and like what I expected in the first place.

I agree.  I need to do a good service on it, clean the carb real good, possibly a rebuild, and start driving it.  I may just take it on the Hot Rod Power Tour next year.

Actually Lean Burn was installed from 1976 through 1989.  Still a great car though.

My mother had one she drove to work as a school teacher.When my brother turned 18 she gave it to him, he did a cosmetic restoration on it, and built a ignorant power train for it, it runs 12:50's @ 106mph 1.84 60ft. made 366h.p. to rear wheels if posting pictures on here was as easy as facebook i would post several as they are on my facebook and mopar owners of facebook. His has T-tops and power windows, his tag number is 79 300 it was a huge amount of work but he got that tag number! The car is now being fitted and mocked up with a 500 inch twin turbo set up by performance injection equipment. You got a nice looking one, they are fun and heavy too !  yours is the first one i have seen with crank windows.
