Since this is being discussed on another thread, this seems like a good time to ask for some clarification - particularly on the finish of this part.

First, is this the correct part number?

Next, were all of these galvanized?

Next, were some of them painted and some left galvanized?

There is no evidence of black paint on mine either inside or out.

If you have information on any of the below subjects relating to this part please post.  Thanks.

mine is unfinished natural galvanized. I cant give you demensions because the part sits in jail with the rest of the car. :eek2:
wingless now, but still around.

Paint doesn't stick to galvanized metal very well so that may be why Chrysler didn't paint them.

Back in my body shop days in the 1970's I discovered if you clean the metal with lacquer thinner then wipe it down with white vinegar and let it dry, paint will then stick to it very well.

Redbird

Both of mine are galvanized.

I believe it was Kenny Brackett who made reproductions about 25 years ago. They were well done but a bit thicker guage than than the originals, not galvanized, and they didn't have the little dimple on them. I have one of them in the shop too. Fits perfectly as I recall.

Aero426

My street car is galvanized.    I also had an NOS part that was painted black.

RealWing

3571148 is the correct part number (see attached Engineering Drawing)  My galvanized valance panel had remains of black paint on the underside. I've also looked at some low mileage survivor cars and they were also black on the bottom (see photo) , but I'm sure there were also some that were unpainted.
