The show Counting car has had a few Mopars, 7o challenger and 68 charger.  Again facts or a bit off.  The 68 Charger was obviously not designed for racing, or the aero changes would not have needed to be made in 69.

The commonly accepted story is that they did design/plan on racing it, it just fared poorly against the Ford aero cars.    The grill sucked too much wind up front and the recessed window created a big vacuum that would lift the car's rear end up.   Thus, the C500 was designed to fill that gap.  It did OK, but Dodge decided they needed more cowbell, and went to the wind tunnels to advance the design.   The Daytona was released it and from then on it was lights out.

Is this just all speculation?  That's the story I've always heard.

Right!  The Superbird.  Should get a slap for not recalling that one.

To me it's a soap opera, not a car show.  Big disappointment.
