Hey guys..

As I wrote some time ago, my boss bought an 1976 Volare.. He has since found out that the gas tank is rotten, and leaks gas everywhere, while packing the fuel filter with debris from the rust..
To make a long story short, he's in the market for a new tank..
He and I have looked everywhere, but with no luck..  :brickwall:
Anybody have any pointers for us where to source a tank for his car?  ;)

Thanks..

Something like this will do the trick.

Cute...   :icon_smile_big:

I doubt it will pass inspection..

I seriously can't find anything older than '77...?

And if you strap it to the roof, you can get away without using a fuel pump too. ;)

Have you tried aspenandvolare.com for an answer?

What is different about the 1977 tank?

The Fury's and Diplomat's up til around '87 are the same under the body sheet metal are exactly the same as a F body. Just have to find a good doner car. A ex police car makes a good one, cause then you can pull the sure-grip 9-1/4 rear end too and put it in your Volare. That's what I did for my R/T :Twocents:

What about the axle width?  Do you need to tub the car for that?
[ŌŌ]ƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖ[ŌŌ] = 68
[ŌŌ][ƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖ][ƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖ][ŌŌ] = 69
(ŌŌ)[ƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗ](ŌŌ) = 70

i did my rear axle swap with the springs attatched in one hour. There is one extra leaf in the rear springs of the cop car rear. So, it wasn't a decision as to whether I wanted to keep them or not. I just did it. Same width

I don't think so, I will ask him..

As far as I know, the shape is more or less the same, but the holes for fuel filler and fuel pump are different..  :shruggy:

If they're the same, how come nobody has a tank from 76 and forward? Everything starts in 77..

Log on to the Aspen board and post the question there.  Surely your boss' car is not the first one to encounter the problem.   Being that 1976 was the first year, and Chrysler had the buyers perform their final engineering tests, I can see lots of running changes the first couple years.   :icon_smile_big:

That is so funny and sad at the same time. :yesnod:
