My 69 has  drum power brakes and the car has been off the road for many years, the master cylinder Seems to be leaking brake fluid between the master and brake booster where it bolts together. My question is do i need to replace the master cylinder  or both?
thanks

Ghoste

Just the master cylinder.  (unless of course it turns out later the booster has problems of its own)

if booster is full of fluid, it will need to be replaced as well

Yeah, that was kind of what I meant about the booster having problems later, sorry I should have been clearer on that.

Here's another question.  69 Charge man. drum brakes.  When someone unbolted the master cylinder, they pulled the plunger out.  Is there a way to remove the plunger from the rod or do I just undo the rod from the pedal assembly?  I don't have the new one yet to know.  Just cleaning up rusty parts.

That rod can be a PITA to get out. Be it rubber or clip, it usually doens't give up without a fight. I usually just smash the old piston off the rod as the rod it about all I keep from the original man. drum brakes. If your just swapping in a "Reman" dual master cyl. from the auto parts store, you will need the push rod.
