Here I can buy an assault rifle at Walmart with ammo and walk out with it right away.

Come to the People's Republik of Kalifornia and they'll tell you what constitutes an "assault weapon"....just about everything.

As far as CCW goes, my local sheriff has loosened the permit process but, even if I had one, I wouldn't carry. With my stature I've never found anything I'd want to lug around all the time....open or concealed.

Most "AR's" I have seen at Walmart are 22's with some cheep black plastic rails thrown on trying to make it look cool.  There is nothing assault about it.  Just cheap, Chinese made squirrel rifles made to look semi-cool.

They have a Remington .223 AR-15 at our local Wal-Mart, they actually have two one in black and another in the camo print. I can order just about any rifle through them.

- Pistol grip
- Detachable magazine (capacity in excess of 10 rounds)
- Folding stock
- Flash suppressor
- Bayonet lug

you stick a EO tech on a Ruger 10-22 and a composite kit and most laymen would say "it's a fully automatic people killer"  What is funny is here in our area within our surrounding counties we have had 6 stabbings in just one week!!! (2 fatal) and maybe 3 shootings in the past 3 years (we are in rural Indiana)

Gun laws, especially in CA, make my head hurt, and I've given up on trying to understand them-you have to be a lawyer or someone with a brass-pass to deal with it.  I just hope that I don't "accidentally" do something illegal with my new Ruger 556e and Colt M4...
