I don't know but we could have covered this before?  Anyway, keep 'em or cut 'em loose?

Cut out the pieces you want to keep and slip them into sheet protectors.

Ghoste

I wonder how many of us that keep them actually go back through them every so often?

Chryco Psycho

Duh yeah , good reference material .
especially before the internet
I think I have the first issues of Mopar Muscle , High Perf Mopar & Mopar action & most of the issues since + a lot of others , no way I can drag them to Panama , anyone want them ?

Ghoste

Already have them, I'm a saver too.

Aero426

I have certain magazines I can't live without.   For example, I use my 1966-1978 and older copies of Stock Car Racing as reference material constantly.     They are keepers.  Glossy magazines like Vintage Motorsport or Rodders Journal I would also keep intact.    I took most of my 1990's to present Mopar magazines and cut them up for the tech stuff I wanted to retain and some historical articles.    The rest about Joe Blow's feature car went to recycling.

If you are so inclined,  most of your muscle era mags from back in the day are worth more cut up for the articles and ads, versus intact.     But it's still a time consuming process to cut, package and resell them.

Ghoste

You know oddly enough (or maybe it isn't odd at all) I almost never ever buy a cut up magazine article.  If I can't get the whole magazine I really don't want it.

I finally broke down last year and started dolling them out to who was ever intrested. Got enuff ol' crap 'round here.... BIGS included!  :nana:

Fred

With the exception of one or two, I turfed all mine into the recycle bin last month. They were just taking up too much room and to be honest I haven't actually looked through any of them in years.
Repair manuals on the other hand, I'll never part with.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

I used to save them all for the tech articles and then discovered it's near impossible to find "that particular article" in a pile of hundreds so I gave them all to a fellow enthusiast with orders to pass them on.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Old Moparz

Been saving car mags since the early 80's & at one time had subscribed to about 5 or 6 at the same time. I  decided over this past winter that they need to go, no need to save them anymore but I may keep a few. They were grouped by title, then by year, & some are complete sets over several years. I'll probably make a list at some point & sell them off cheap on Craigslist so I don't have to ship them.

These are the titles I remember subscribing to & there may be 1 or 2 others I had for a short time.

Daytona R/T SE

I've got every magazine I ever bought.

Starting with a model train magazine dated January 1975.

Which means I bought it in late 1974.

Sometime this winter I'm going to drag them all out to the garage and go through them all.

The keepers are going in file folders in filing cabinets that I can move with my refridgerator dollie.

The others will be given away or burned.

Time to downsize the collection...

Of everything.

I keep some of the older 60s & some other ons to, but must agree with John, to much stuff.

RallyeMike

Mopar Action in plastic sleeves and binders from 1992 to present. The rest....... well I'd be happy to trade them away for pre-92 Mopar Actions.

I still have ALL of my Mopar magazines, I think the first years are around 1984 "Chrysler power" and other muscle car mags plus hot rod car craft etc. I have all of them separated by magazine title name. :icon_smile_big: They all have their own snap lid container and are on 24 foot long shelving in my garage! And yes every few years I go grab a hand full and it's like reading them all over again. As a matter of fact last Saturday we had a 7 hour drive up to Mike Mancini's and we grabbed a box of them from 1990 to read in the back of the Mega cab. I have no plans on getting rid of them.

71ChallengeHer

My buddies do. Kerry dropped off a bunch of Mopar mags for me to read right before I had a my leg surgery.

oldcarnut

I got a lot of old Hot Rod mags from way back sitting in the attic.  One of these days I'm going to pull out the ones from late 60's and early 70's to take a review.

XS29L

I kept all the Mopar mags , Mopar action is the best IMHO.  I also kept all of the Cars Illustrated mags , did any of you guys read that one ?
MOPAR OR NO CAR !!

GOTWING

yep! that was a cool magazine in the 80's

Robert96

I have hundreds of mags. Some like Hemmings Muscle Machines are gereral and some are Mopar speific.  I keep them all in perfect shape and in order according to year, month, etc.  Yes I am ANAL about my mags. but I think some time in the future they might help people out. They are always fun to pull out and take another look at now and then.

472 R/T SE

It absolutely drives my wife nuts that I keep them all.  I haven't gotten a Mopar specific rag in a while now.  I screwed up my order with Musclecar Review & am paid up until Jan. '15.

Also got a good price on Hot Rod so I'm locked in with them for a while.

Biggest mistake I made was getting subscriptions to all the Mopar rags at the same time.  The same cars' cycle through all of them during the course of the subscription.   ;)

myk

I have some car magazine from '99 that talk about the Charger concept, as well as head to head articles between the newly debuted New Edge Mustangs and 4.1 Gen LS1 Camaro's.  I don't need them, but that period was the beginning of my official foray into cars so it's about the sentimental aspect....

472 R/T SE

They're all sentimental.

A couple years back I got on Mopar Muscle's forum & asked about a rag from the '90's that featured a how to with Roger Gibson doing up a factory correct Hemi car engine bay.

My buddy loaned me his copy, it took a lot of arm twisting for him relinquish it so I could scan it for copies.   A year or two passed, he forgot & it got destroyed.

Roger Bolig, editor @ MM answered my request on the forum.  He tracked down which month it was & sent me 2 copies....FREE OF CHARGE.  It about floored me, since I'm only about 4' off the ground I guess that would be pretty easy but pretty cool nonetheless.
