I've never seen a repro rear view mirror until I saw this auction, has anyone purchased one of these?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/68-69-70-Mopar-B-body-rear-view-mirror-Dodge-Charger-Plymouth-GTX-Road-Runner-/271041334905?_trksid=p4340.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222001%26algo%3DSIC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D1951929942417463819%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D1%26

My original is really loose at the base of the mirror plate and the mirror silver has faded, so I'm considering one of these.

Ghoste

I think there may have been a thread on these recently but I don't recall the section or title.

Hemidog

Within the last 40 days Ghoste? I cannot find any recent threads, and I'm fairly good with the search function.

randy73

I have one, looks like the original, but I have not installed yet, as I am still restoring.

Hemidog

quality and finish feels good in your hands?

randy73

I compared to my old one and it looks right and feels right.

That looks like the repro type Year One has for '70 and '71 A, B and E Bodies. The day/night lever goes side to side, instead of front to back, as on my '69. Year One also has a repro mirror for '68s and '69s, but there is no picture in their online catalog. They're both $79.99. I doubt that even Year One shipping could get the total price up to the $109 that it would cost from the eBay seller.

Maybe someone here has purchased the Year One mirrors and can comment on their quality.

Hemidog is your mirror gone or beyond repair or just loose?  Tightening it back up is very easy to do, I just did it with mine and I can now flick the day/night thingamajig without moving the mirror.  Before that the mirror would barely stay in place while just driving.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Hemidog

Yeah Dino, I did that yesterday  :yesnod: (nice isnt it?) , and painted the base and backside black, You can actually remove the mirror glass itself to replace it. Too bad you can't fix/polish up a faded mirror.

Sweet!  The mirror itself is flat so you can easily have a shop cut the same size if yours is faded.  Silk screening 'night day' on it is another matter though.

Hemidog

Yeah, I was thinking about it, but the thickness of the glass is different from the top of the mirror to the bottom (is tapered the right word?), so that the mirror points upwards.
It might not matter a whole lot. Maybe someone can make a mirror in the same dimension, and the day/night markings does not worry me.

randy73

My mirror is beveled and is thicker on the top than on the bottom, I found a local mirror store to do mine for $30.

FJ5WING

I just picked up one of the YO repops with the one day only 25% discount, its on the way for $74.14.

Ill post up when it gets here!
wingless now, but still around.

When you say loose at the base ... you know that is adjustable.  3 screws losen or tighten.
Then the allen screw tightens it to the stem.
I just redid the argent on mine for the 73.

Hemidog

Yep, I tightened it, and it works nicely now :) The only thing is the mirror itself has really faded. It's ok in the daytime, but at night time I can hardly make anything out.

It's too bad that I cannot find just the mirror glass itself, because resilvering the mirror costs more than a repro mirror.

Yes and they can not reproduce the prism effect/night-day either.
That is the main reason I found a used one.

When I saw the link I figured I'd try to put an XV price on it, then I added a bit and then I added a bit more.  I was still short by about 300 bucks.   :rotz:

true  ,
don't show the the back of the mirror , dare say its going to look well out of place on a 40 plus year old car , still think good idea !
if  that back up camera deal was built in a OEM type mirror & it was sensible price ,
