ok a while ago i posted i was having shifting issues with my new clutch. i made an adjustment and all was well for about 150 miles. it gradually started getting worse till it became undriveable. there was alot of oil on the tranny and clutch fork so alot of people said it was oil contamination.  it got to the point where the disc would not release from the flywheel. i even tried sticking a putty knife between the disc and the flywheel and it would not break free. i even tried to break if free by driving still nothing.

so today we pulled the tranny the disc looks awesome and its dry as a bone. the bearing the input shaft rides on is great and moves freely. bell housing is tight. the disc slides on the input shaft splines really nice and its not sloppy or tight at all.  im replacing the seal on the input shaft as well as the gasket on that little housing.  one thing i found was when the pressure plate was removes is theres weights or something clanking around in there :shruggy:  this is all new mcloud stuff the flywheel is new. the t.o. bearing is great too.  the input shaft itself spins great needing only 2 fingers to spin it.

everything only thing i found one of the bolts that held the tranny crossmember to the car was a little loose for some reason.

any suggestions at all here? i was kinda hoping the disc was covered in oil at least there would be a obvious reason.

is the disc in the correct way with the center hub away from the flywheel , if it is in backwards the hub will grab the flywheel to crank bolts

Brightyellow69rtse

theres a sticker on it that says this side to flywheel, unless the sticker is on the wrong side then it was on correctly.

A383Wing

sounds like pressure plate is faulty

i got it from brewers performance. hopefully they dont dick me around. id be suprised if theres even 200 miles on it. i havent even had the chance to beat on it.

Brewers is a great plce.  Problem will be how long is the clutch. Most manufactures only give a year

Chryco Psycho

it should rattle , there are counterweights to ad load with RPM

Brightyellow69rtse

it hasnt even been close to a year since i bought it.

You might get lucky and get a replacement.

Another thought; did you check to make sure the bellhousng isn't offset? Could cause a bind.

Take a close look at the Z-bar, sometimes the welds that attach the arms to the tube will break loose.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Brightyellow69rtse

ill check out the z bar real good.  the bellhousing is located on the dowel pins and everything is tight.

Brightyellow69rtse

the z bar looks great. theres a little slop in the bushing inside the zbar where it connects to the bellhousing, but its not bad.

Chryco Psycho

we know the Z bar is ok because you have free play on the pedal , we also know the pressure plate is releasing with the pedal pushed as you checked for clearance & the pressure plate is moving back so why is the disc not free between the pressure plate & flywheel ? The thick side of the disc with the springs  faces back into the pressure plate , is there any marks on the flywheel bolts , is there any ridges in the splines on the input shaft so the disc is not floating freely on the splines ? are the bolts holding the pressure plate on header type with small heads , regular bolts can pinch the edge of the disc ?

Brightyellow69rtse

my dad brought the pressure plate and disc to a tranny shop to have them look at it. he said the pressure plate is no good. some of the weights are floating around inside there all free and their jamming up the springs. there was also something else wrong he said. he expalined it to my dad but it got lost in translation over the phone with me lol.  brewers said theyll give me a new pressure plate and that they would take it up with mcloud.

Chryco Psycho

Awesome at least you didn't pull the trans for nothing , when you tighten it back down do ti evenly 1/2 turn on each bolt at a time all the way around  :2thumbs:

yeah i dont mind doing the work when its worthwhile. on the positive side im getting pretty good at dropping the tranny lol.
