power window help needed

Even though my windows work,I don't think I have it wired correctly. My relay is always hot when the car is on. I have power to a circuit breaker,from there to contact terminal on the relay. From the other contact in the relay to the power wire for the windows. I have the one non contact to ground (later relay) and the other non contact to swiched power. I guess basically what I need to know is , should the power to the windows go through the contacts? 69 Charger. Thanks
