So what's the difference between the 2 hoods again?

The 4 support/reenforcement ribs on the production Charger versus the smooth one for the Daytona. They are located at the front edge of the hood.. In the picture of the hood on this thread, you can see clearly 2 of the ribs..

When I build Daytona clones, I remove those dimples. Allen, did you ever notice that on your hood?  ;D
It's just something extra that I do. Isn't as easy as it would seem either. I can spend an entire day just altering the hood. We've had the discussion on here before that there was possibly a Daytona or two that might have left the factory with a 70 Charger hood.

Thanks for the insight and the link Troy.
Man the more I read the more I think it was just a miracle these cars got built !

Not to get way off topic as I know some of these posts do  :icon_smile_big: , but the link Troy posted above talked about the hood latches being different as well.
When looking at mine, we noticed there was no lever to lift up on, and it appeared it was like that from the factory, not broken off or anything.

So were there different styles of hood latches or Daytona specfic?

I would love to trade my Superbird for Joe's (wingin it) Daytona but he's enjoying it too much to even think about a trade.  ;D
I like Daytonas and Superbirds both equally but if you own a bird, you tend to want a Daytona and vice-versa...lol
One of each would be nice but that would mean selling a whole bunch of my other toys.

There are several things that I like better about the Superbirds. I like the pistol grip shifter, the larger wing, the larger trunk opening, the fact that it's a plymouth, the six pack option, the high back seats and the cool Superbird logos.
The only thing that I don't like is the granny looking vinyl top. The only color that looks good with a black vinyl top is black and lo and behold, they didn't build any black birds.

Here's an early pic of my bird with a vinyl top.
