These two D-shaped plastic plugs with the built-in vent/drain, whatever it is. Where do they go?

Oh, awesome! I just crawled under there to put the first one in and punched the middle of it out with my fingers. :2thumbs: :rotz:

ChgrSteve67

That sucks buddy, it's like 10 minutes from the time you found their location to the time you posted about punching the hole.

Yea, nothing like instant results. :icon_smile_dissapprove: I was taking pics/posting in the garage and as soon as I got the reply I went straight to work breaking stuff.

Gently does it bull. The centre is the weakest part. You need to push on the outer edges.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

If it makes you feel any better Bull, I learned the hard way that you can't push them in with a screwdriver either.

I thought I was being safe using my fingers. Oh well. What's worse is I had the heat gun out warming up some of the rubber plugs to get them in easier but didn't use it on this one.

ChgrSteve67

Your In luck Bull I have one.

PM me your address and I will send it to you.
Don't worry about $$$ just pay it forward to another MOPAR guy some day.

bull

Awesome, thanks! I plan on doing a pay it forward once I'm done with my restoration. Assuming I get done.

Just wait. I've had to replace mine twice already.  :yesnod:
Perhaps the repro ones are made of a thinner plastic, but mine split on the edge where it sits in the hole. It was fine for about a year, then split again.  :brickwall:

bull

Yea, mine split all the way around the edge at the lip except where that vent thing is. It seems like these two vent plugs are a lot stiffer or more brittle than the other plastic plugs in the kit.

I looked in my stash of body plugs here....I don't have any, sorry

hey bull, do you have a pic where they are...I looked all around today and couldn't find it. Thanks.

probably covered up with dirt and road grime

bull

This is not my car, because I didn't want to get up out of my comfy chair to take a picture, but it'll work. They go in these big holes in the inner quarter panels right behind the rear wheel opening.

And or a cheaper plastic.  Seems like some of the original ones have to be chiseled out to remove them.

The easiest way to get them out is to soften them up with a heatgun first.

I'll be trying that maneuver to get the 2nd one in.

Throw it in (fairly) hot water for a while, much safer than the heat gun.

ok but be gentle with the heatgun or you'll be scraping it up with a spatula.

Heatgun..........not to be confused with a Blow wave (hair dryer).  :icon_smile_big:

bull

Blow wave? :scratchchin: Where are you from again? :nana:

Well, I got the plug from Steve today (thanks again, man ) I heated it up with my heat gun and popped it into place carefully around the lip instead of in the middle like before. Went right in.
