So I finally went back near the end of July and picked up my Coronet. What a trip it was! Me and my buddy went. Wanted to leave by 7pm on Friday night, ended up leaving at 10pm after having a flat tire on the truck at my grandpa's work while hooking up the trailer. Drove to Princeton that night in pouring rain and HEAVY fog. Went to sleep in the truck in the old Overwaitea parking lot at about 2am. Woke up at 6:45am to sun and drove all the way to Creston. Got there about 1pm, met up with my buddy in town and then drove 20 minutes out to a town called Yahk to pick up the car. After loading the car and checking out his collection of cars, we left about 3:30pm and drove back to Creston exhausted. Had a quick break and a 'shower' in the sink of the Tim Hortons there and then hit the road again. My goal was to get to Kelowna by 10:30pm....I had never been there before. The stretch on the way to Kelowna from Grand Forks was crazy, we saw TONS of deer.... a few on the road. It got to the point where I thought I was hallucinating and seeing random deer lol. Drove through a town called Beaverdell and came upon a giant plume of smoke. Turned out to be a bunch of bikers doing burnouts on the highway infront of the bar.....they all seemed to like the Coronet going by lol. Hit Kelowna at 10:25 and drove around looking for a hotel before me and my buddy decided to be crazy and make a dash for 100 Mile House (which was another 4 hours). That didn't happen....I made it to Kamloops at 2am before giving up and parking at Home Depot and going to sleep. Woke up at 6:30 Sunday morning and hit the road for 100 Mile. Got there about 9:30am, unloaded the car and hung out for 5 or so hours at my mom's house before hitting the road for home. Got home finally about 11pm that night. Needless to say I slept most of Monday!! My buddy slept atleast 1/2 the trip. It was a crazy trip across a good portion of British Columbia.....28 hours of driving in 48 hours (2000km's- 1300miles) but in the end, it was all worth it and another Mopar was saved from the crusher

Wow, that car look rough, good luck on the project.

It looks worse in the pictures but it's better in person. It's solid in all the right places and I got most of the parts collected for it.

Dave, it's sitting in storage until the Charger is done.

My hats off to you Cody, both for deciding to sve the car and for making sure the Charger gets done first before diving into the next project.

Did you get the title with it? or do they even use titles in Canada?

I thought I remembered in your sig pic the car was complete? Anyway, it was probably still worth grabbing for some sort of future use, especially if it can be registered.

I can't answer the first question, but the answer to the second one is yes.  It's somewhat different here though as it mainly just establishes who owns the car and if you lose it, it's a relatively easy procedure to get it replaced.  In the US a cars title is more like a holy document that attests to very existence.

I still ask why?  :scratchchin:

Beautiful pictures though man....the countryside is beautiful to travel so it looks like you guys had a great road trip...! :2thumbs:  It would be even better if you netted something more than a rotted out basket case 318 3-speed parts car. :'(

Sorry dude it looks like fun to a novice but I'm being honest with you... :yesnod:  This car is way to far gone to be worthy of restoring -  and there's no documentation, collectibillty, or resale value assocated with it once the bills start piling up...  :brickwall:

Restoring this car, any time and money you spend will be completley wasted (compared to starting with a nicer, more complete car to work with).  :scratchchin:

Don't make life harder than it is. :icon_smile_wink:  If you must have a 1970 Coronet, consider starting with something better.  :Twocents: :Twocents:

If it's solid where it counts then I say good score. Perfect base for wicked built pro-touring project. Grind hard.  :buff: :hack:

I agree. If you need a parts car to aid in restoring a "good" car, I understand, but to restore a $200.00 parts car doesn't make any sense.

moparstuart

i have restore a couple parts cars  , its very satisfing when your done . I save a couple from the scrapper and if you smart , careful and scavenge you can do them and not be upside down . Not everyone has millions to spend on these cars and we cant all start with perfect bodies especially here in the salt and rust belt
GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

Cooter

Don't let the Nay sayers detract you Cody, you can do it as I've restored ALL my cars that are/were that bad and they ain't "Worth" nuthin' either. I don't see time as "Wasted" if it's what you want. Money/Flipper guys will always put down the rusty hulks. It twould be great to begin with a rust free car, scuff it down, shoot it, and dump in an engine, but some of us don't have that luxury do we?

Trips like that are a lot of fun, I've done a few & don't have any regrets.

Except maybe that one time getting a borrowed trailer stuck in a snow bank in the mountains near West Virginia.  ::)

Can't speak for all the naysayers but I will say that Tufcat is neither a flipper or a money guy.  He really is just trying to be a devils advocate for Cody and watches his back for him.  That said, I pat you on the back for it Bronzy.  It's going to be a tough one to do but even if you find it can't realistically be completed, you have an awesome road trip to remember and that hulk is going to teach you lots.  Just do your best not to get in too deep financially with it.

you broke my dail up and refresh button,,,you----warned me i guess??WELL GUESS IT WAS WORTH IT,HAHA.

100% right. Tufcat is a GOOD guy.
But don't sell them short, even flippers make money on rusted hulks.

If anything, great pictures and looks like a great experience.  :yesnod:
I will agree though that the car is not for the timid or the novice. It is, essentially, a parts car. Not too far off what my '69 looked like when I got it, so anything is possible. But for a first timer you'll be over your head in no time. Don't know what you have into it so far, either (vehicle cost, travel expenses, etc), but it looks like it needs EVERYTHING. Not an easy or cheap endeavor.
My humble suggestion is to assess what you already have, & possibly consider thinning the herd to accomplish what you really want.
Has any more progress been made on the Charger, or even started?  :shruggy:

Best of luck, Cody. You're going to need it.  :2thumbs:
