Question about rims/tires larger than 15"?

I was looking at the value aspect of when I buy new rims and tires for my 70 Charger. It seems with 15" tires selection is diminished, there are more sizes from more manufacturers, with better features offered on larger tires now that 15" are less common. (At better pricing.)
I wonder if I'd be better off going larger than 15's in the long run as I plan on my car as a daily driver.  :scratchchin:

Impossible to predict what will happen, but you are right the trend now is to larger diameters and the tire selection obviously corresponds.  It doesn't look like it will change anytime soon.

I run 18s on my car. The majority of the aging car guys seem to like the 15 inch wheel/tire look though. I don't care if anyone else likes my car or the wheels. The car was built by me, FOR me.
17 inch diameter wheels are often the limit for the guys willing to deviate from the factory wheels. The tire sizes are pretty vast in that diameter and you'll still have some sidewall to retain some cushion for a better ride.

I agree, build the way you want it. I'm one of those aging car guys that likes 22" wheels.

Any pictures? I'm in the market for wheels.

I agree, run what you like best. Personally I wouldn't go any bigger than 17 and infact I am going to order up a set of the new rallye wheels from Year One when they are available, but I would have to disagree on 17" tires being readily available, at least in the 27-28" area. I can only find two options in a 275 tire, a NT450 Nitto or a Falken and they are both m&s rated for SUV's. I will most likely use a NT555 Nitto 255/50r17 for the rear unless something else comes up. Has anybody used either of the tires I listed?

I've used the NT450. It's a heavy tire with a SUV load rating. I ran the 275 50 17.

I've also run a Kumho 255 50 17.

Ran them on different cars, so no direct comparison.

Very limited selection on 17's in a 27 - 28 inch diameter. These days you've probably got more selection with 18's.
