Possible leaky water pump??

I drove the Charger to work today. Everything was running fine until I parked it, got out and noticed a steady drip-drip of coolant. A quick inspection looks like the leak is coming from mid engine area, behind the water pump.

I might leave work early and swing by the parts store on the way home; get water and maybe pick up a replacement part.

Help me....this sound like the water pump? I replaced the current one about 7 years ago.

I could take it home, tear it down to be absolutely sure, but if an educated guess and with the corrent part handy, I would finished it up in a hurry!

We have a three day weekend!!

The water pump has a small hole at the bottom, have a look and see if its coming out the hole.
Also ,did you change the alternator recently or loosen bolts for adjustment? The reason i ask is because the bolt at the bottom that goes into the water pump will leak coolant if not torqued properly.

It might be just the hoses, not the pump itself so check those first.  When the pump itself fails it's usually a much bigger mess than drip-drip.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Well, I've never seen this before...

I drove home (no issues) and the car still leaked. It looked the where the top radiator filler hose met the water neck. I took the hose off to clean/inspect it and saw that the water filler neck (that hold the thermostat) was SUPER corroded and metal seemed to flake off.

I took the neck off as I thought that the top was not holding a good seal and wanted to clean it. I discovered that corrosion had eaten a hole about the size of a pencil tip into the housing on the rear side, hence the leak.

Never seen that one before.

Part on order and install tomorrow.

Weird.

take the fan belt off , & see if you can feel movement in the pump bearing by rocking the pulley / fan   ,  like you would feel for play in  front wheel bearings   :yesnod:  feel any movement  , replace pump    regardless of any water leaking out of the hole in the pump  ,  :Twocents:
water leaking out that hole  9 times out of 10 means the the bearings are done for or close to !  :Twocents:
