Ah, well at least that's some assurance in that case!

Fair enough, Skip. It's unfortunate but seems to be the way it goes :(

its been on ebay a few times  , that i know of  ,  your half way there with the color combo ,  Rare charger too ,  :yesnod:
don't look bad  from the pictures  , !! needs work  ,  but running & driving by the looks of it  ,   could easily use as it , for a while  , get it shipped over  & have it   restored or   GL up somewhere local to you in a body shop ,  then you can check on the work being done at each stage in person  :yesnod:
:popcrn:

If I were stig and wanted a manual shift car, this is the one to consider  :Twocents:

...and once again, another dodgy person to deal with. This is getting absolutely ridiculous! How many thousands spent in inspections over almost a year and not one person can be genuine!!  :brickwall:

Stig, if you find a car chances are we have a member within driving range.  Post a thread asking for a member close by to have a look at it.  We do this all the time.  I've done it twice and even helped put the deal together and stored the car for 8 months before it was shipped to Belgium.   Hang in there, it will happen.

Thanks, Skip. Yeah, I better start doing that as it really is ridiculous at this point  :rotz: Back to waiting for now!

That's prolly a HLPAG special being that close to Chicago.  :Twocents:
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

STIG, you should start a new thread if you want someone to look at a car.  The title should read "Anyone around Crystal Indiana that can look at a car"
That will get more response quicker.
Be sure to ask for pictures of the undercarriage by a second party NOT the owner.   Cars from back east tend to have rust and are bondo buckets from so called restoration shops.   Good luck.   ;)

Aww... need to find a tidy driver's 69' then and do it ourselves I think! That isn't proving to be much easier either though.

Thanks Skip, I'll start one now! Sounds like it might be though, Indy.  :-\

I just asked the seller if it was an HLPAG or "True Muscle Restoration" vehicle via email, so if he responds that it isn't, then I'll post up the thread to see if it's worth anyone's time!

Just saw that around the minute the ad was created on eBAY actually  :icon_smile_tongue: I like how brutally honest he is about it, but it just looks like it needs too much work unfortunately. If the paint and decals were tidy then I might consider it, but seeming as that the underside, engine and interior all need work done - it's pretty much a full on project :/

I'm currently inquiring about this one for sale http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUPER-RARE-1969-DODGE-CHARGER-4-SPEED-SE-6-3L-383-Great-condition-/230847395914?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item35bf93b84a#ht_946wt_1165
I don't know what sort of rust it has, but I'm hoping it's minor.

I have heard nothing but good things about Scott Lea General Lees. I do not believe he is cheep, but the work I have seen was well done.

Than you haven't seen what he did to mine.... I wouldn't go there  :rotz:

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.......

I know that now, Cooter! Have been searching almost all day through most sites trying to find a tidy 69' within my budget and doesn't need too much done. I'm thinking of that manual red one currently for sale on eBAY at the moment (which someone posted earlier)

Your car is out there somewhere you just have to keep looking.  We have that instant gratification thing in our society and too often forget that finding the right collector car isn't as easy as going to the corner lot and picking it out.  Unless you are into 65 Mustangs or 69 Camaros, those things grow on trees.

Dino

What happened to that green 69 for around $12K ?  That was a nice car.  Moist Chargers you will find are overpriced restos or bondoed basket cases.  Somewhere in between you'll find a solid driver but you will have to be very patient.

I think it's still for sale... but it looks like a bucket of something I don't think I'm qualified to even attempt working on!  ::)

Yep, will keep up the search definitely - I know they're getting much harder to find, but after almost a year it's getting quite frustrating! Just got to keep waiting until the right one comes along  ;)

It is frustrating to be sure but hang in, don't just buy one and compromise or you may regret it.

What I eventually did was put a wanted on on craigslist and I laid out in detail what I was looking for in a car.  After 2-3 months I received an email form a guy 40 minutes from me.  He had a second kid on the way so he bought a new family car.  The guy told me he would never had considered selling the Charger until he saw my ad.  His wife didn't really want him to sell but the guy is real busy and had only driven it 5000 miles in the last 20 years!

He told me I was welcome to come look at it and when I did I fell in love with the thing.  It was exactly what I wanted.  He was hesitant to sell so I told him to think it over and let me know, no pressure.  A week or two later he called and said he'd sell it.  Until that time I still had no idea how much he wanted for it but I ended up getting it for $15K with a ton of spare parts.

You will find your car, don't give up and don't give in.

Now that sir, is an excellent success story with your Charger! I'll keep on keeping on, the right one is out there somewhere and once we find it, it's not going anywhere!  :2thumbs:

Sorry for being a noob (my Dad would probably hang his head if he even knew I was asking the question), but I'm trying to price these parts for him and I have no clue  So on the General Lee, is this skin just painted the same colour as the body? or is there an actual hardtop to buy?

Nothing wrong with being a noob, you'll be an expert on these things before long.  :icon_smile_big:

There is no hardtop, all Chargers had the steel skin roof and either had it painted or covered in vinyl in which case the c-pillar chrome trim was added.  On non vinyl top cars the trim was absent.

The General Lee was a non vinyl top car so the roof is painted.  Most GL's did not have any chrome trim on the c-pillars but Lee 1 did, along with the SE rocker trim.

The only reason you would need that roof skin is if you buy a vinyl top car that has a lot of rust.  Usually you end up removing half the roof skin with the vinyl top as they are really bad moisture collectors.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
