that explains why when i asked how much he paid for it he didnt tell me awhile back, understandable.

I don't get it, if he pays a price agreed on by the seller and sells it for a different price, who cares as long as all parties have agreed on the price   I usually sell my cars for less than I have in them   I know my 68 sold for about 8k less than I had in it, and the guy who bought it has it for sale on here for twice what he paid.

I dont even bother when sellers feedback is less than 100%, chances are the car is not what they say then.

so obvious rust&previous repaint means there WILL BE a lot of metal work in that car.

It's one of those things that is technically ethical yet underhanded. It kind of degrades the hobby in an atmosphere where people are usually more helpful and honest IMO. I had a guy try to sell me a 68 for quite a bit more than he had agreed to pay for it, and he hadn't even bought it yet. I thought that was more than a little disgraceful.

Yeah, the people who sell parts they don't actually own yet are amazing. Even more amazing was this guy on Moparts who had started a thread complaining about someone who didn't ship him stuff fast enough & wondered where it was. He bitched & moaned until someone called him out on it by saying he shouldn't have sold the part before he actually had it & promised it would go out right away.   

I once had someone contact me saying they absolutely wanted a full OEM quarter panel & would send full payment, but that they couldn't pick it up for about 4 to 5 weeks. I agreed, but said just send a deposit & pay me when you come get it. I didn't care if it sat outside for a few weeks but the few weeks turned into almost 3 full months. Turns out he ran an ad for the part I sold him hoping he could flip it for 3 times the price. I found this out because I saw the ad describing the quarter with his name & phone number in the National B-Body Owners newsletter.

It was annoying, but since I was getting full price I tolerated it. What I was mad about was that it sat in my yard 3 months & when I called him to say come get it & pay me, he had the balls to ask me if he could send someone to get it for him tomorrow & that he would send a payment. I said not a chance unless that person was showing up with cash. He then scrambled to make arrangement to drive from MI to NY 3 days later & bring it to CT "for a friend" that needed it.

I guess it's safe to assume that all of these "What is my (insert 2nd Gen Charger or Charger part here) worth" are just flippers testing the waters, then?  What's all of your guy's opinion on that?

Ok, I've got this Large sized soda cup from Carl's Jr.  The cup is straight, and the printing of the star has little wear and still shows brightly.  The white areas of the cup could use a good cleaning but this cup is a survivor from last week.  The bottom of the cup has no bleeding and it holds liquids perfectly.  It has a replacement lid that is hardly indistinguishable from the original lid,  but I had to add a 'repro straw that is shorter than the original.  If the lucky buyer wants, I can include the original paper wrapping of the straw.

This cup was recently appraised by a professional agency at about $30,000, which is also about the same number in the NADA system; I will be taking a loss on this fine, survivor cup (from last week) by starting the auction at $10K.  And, unlike all of the weenies on this forum that are posing like genuine members who care about the value of their classic Dodge Chargers, I'm going to be a man about this and tell you right off that I am looking to flip this survivor cup and make some money.  Please, no negative feedback bidders, and I have the right to cancel this auction or change it for whatever reason, at any time.  Delivery of the cup is entirely the responsibility of the buyer!  Sorry, but no international bids, or bidders outside of the continental 48 states!  Thanks for looking and good luck!

I know this is an old thread but there are some ways you can get your ads seen:

1. Start a thread about it in another section pretending to ask a seemingly unrelated question to "inadvertently" drum up interest in your ads (oh, wait. That's what this thread is).

2. Try doing a "what's it worth" thread where you say you might be selling your car soon and then pretend to gather value opinions from fellow members.

3. Post a random picture of your car in the main section and after you get 3-4 responses, casually mention that it might be going up for sale soon.

4. Go through a bunch of threads looking for cars similar to yours and "carpet bomb" them with remarks like "Hey, that looks like the car I'm trying to sell right now!"

My opinion is Flippers have ruined the hobby for those of us who actually do care about the cars themselves. As soon as they hear/read about someone telling someone else that Mopar brings the money, and with those STUPID shows like "Gas Monkey Garage" and such, they tend to think the Mopar guys will pay dearly. What I find hillarious is the fact that when they "Assume" they are gonna make a killing, then they find out the Chevy/Ford guys have more cash and most of the Mopar world is full of broke ass, Want it for nothing, people. Also, I find it funny that This Charger was "Too much" when being sold to him, yet as soon as he owns it, it's suddenly worth three prices more? Amazing how that works.


Flippers in my opinion are like when you were little and told to eat your vegetables BEFORE you got desert....Yet, your little Bro/Sis comes in and grabs the desert first and gets away with it. Flippers only come into a hobby when they want to make a quick buck...They no nothing about spending huge amounts of time restoring a car up late at night, out in the cold, and worrying about how they are gonna pay for all those parts they need for their ride.

Not always. I thought about stopping my project and buying a 70 r/t 4 speed fc7 rough project. Guy was asking 7k which i thought was still high even in the desirable color. I made a wiw thread as i thought 5k max and others were saying more like 3-4k.
Like tradin baseball cards with other members getting their opinions on price. Glad i did cause it made me feel better passing on it.

Flipping or not i'd rather see a wiw thread so the flipper can get his bubble popped instead of advertising cars/parts at ridiculous prices and bnever selling.

I would have taken the money and run. Not to bad to make $5100.00 on a deal, and all you had to do was take better pictures.  But maybe, those bids were not real, friends maybe bidding it up?

Kinda seems shady to me. I had actually put a bid on that car, called the dealer and spoke with him (that is before I think I got a better deal on my car  ) Mine wasn't numbers matching original however. But I agree...if flipping it was my intentions, I'd have taken the money and run....Just sucks that it seems we were being used as an advertisment for his plan.

I have thought about posting a "whats it worth topic" in the future. Im hoping to make a purchase in or around December. I've worked and banked money for a long time and will be looking to purchase a 69 R/T with around 35k to 40k to spend. I am not a body man or some one who can take out a engine and put it back in. Im just a guy who has always wanted a 69 R/T. so im looking to purchase from someone who has a very nice car for a fair price. I wish I could build my own but I do not have the time nor the knowledge to build it. I'm looking to leave the car to my son after I have enjoyed it and I pass on. I will be a young 52 in September. This post makes me a little uneasy as I might be looked upon as someone who would be looking to flip a forum members car. I do not reply to many post but I am on this site every day and read almost every post. don't mean to sound defensive but i just wanted every one to know in advance.
