Looking at the number of Charger owners on here from Ontario, do you think there would be much participation in a Charger only get together?  There are already a lot of shows to go to through the summer so maybe adding one more is a bad idea.  There must be a somewhat central location and a day when we are all available?

I suggested a meet earlier this year, a few members agreed it would be do-able, but nobody jumped on the band wagon. My property is located in the Orangeville area, and would eazily handle a 100 cars before we had to hit the fields. Offer is still open for next year.Hopfully having a few club members over on the 2 of Sept, for a function, I will run it past them , and let them check out the site and comment.

If something could be arranged I would be there, sounds like fun!

Ghoste

So if we take James up on his offer to assemble there, is that enough for a first attempt.  Get together, look at each others cars, tell lies and go home or does there have to be some other attraction?

J.Bond

Had to find the thread from earlier this  year

After checking the thread on south western chargers, the first thing that came to mind was, why don't we do a private, car show-barbecue-meet and greet. My property in Grand Valley can accomodate over a 100 cars as is and if need be, another 45 acres out back. This show would be just for us, no public. If it works out and the turn out is large, it might be something to consider going public with, down the road.

Every year we have a barbecue, pig roast with our friends and hunters that hunt my property, its usually 30 to 50 people. So were pretty well set up to do a function. Just have to know what the numbers are, and throw in a bit of pot luck.

Well se how the responce is, and take it from there.

If you want an attraction; We can have the wife's 1st gen, painted while we eat. Just a thought.

RIDELIKEHELL

When were you thinking? I was really hoping to meet you James @ Moparfest and introduce myself.

If I were to throw out a suggestion, it would be July after Carlisle or September possibly.  Between my work schedule in the summer and the three big Mopar meets, it gets hard to nail down a time.

Dodge Don

September sounds better than the busier June-Aug period.

If it is just DC.Com guys it will be too small....5 guys staring at eachother  :scratchchin:   Are you thinking of advertising it as a pure Charger show. That might draw a decent group?

Ghoste

I think that would be a good idea, both the advertising and the September date.   How does September 14 sound?

J.Bond

In January, we came up with July 16, something after Spring Fling and before Moparfest.

Marc;

Were you there on Saturday??

Don;

Yeah, head count is an issue, however, it still amazes me how many Charger owners are not even aware of D.C.com,so between our members, the scattered 1st,2nd and third gens in my nieghbourhood, the incedentals, friends with Chrysler vehicles that are not Chargers, that would be insulted if the were not invited, I'm not too concerned.

Build it, and they will come.

I'm in Belwood which is pretty close so I will be there. The 1st annual Belwood Lake Car show august 11  had a little over 30 cars and it was open to all. Went to the  Boot Hill car show and they had 50 cars so tough to get people out with so many activities these days.

Timing: July-Sept what ever you guys choose, is Ok by me, Cannot do Sept this year, as there is just not enough time!

If you persue Sept, We should try to keep it in the earlier part of the month if posible.

I am. Its a turd. LOL  :icon_smile_wink:

I'd really like to see another Mopar Show in Southern Ontario in September.
Summer Send-Off, Fall Fling etc

I've always thought having free vending spots would be a great hook, and I would like to see St. Thomas or Cayuga as the venue.

St. Thomas is close to me but its hard to book something in there for the fall.  My friends and I used to but I haven't had great times there the last few.  Especially since they went 1/8 mile.

Not a change of subject, its a valid suggestion.  If we do one next year though, I still like the idea personally of meeting in a field in central Ontario as a starter.

Scared to put my two cents in because with our snowmobile club it means you just volunteered for the job . With that being said how about a later season meet that would include meeting for breakfast at one place . Then driving through bellfoutain or Hockley valley  with fall colours to JBOND farm for some BBQ.

RIDELIKEHELL

Some good ideas so what are we going to do? I like the idea of driving with the fall colors myself but St Thomas area is close to me but I not picky  :eek2:

It would be nice to see something east of Toronto. Less of a drive for me. :2thumbs:

Dodge Don

A fall Mopar show is needed.

There is an annual british car show in Bronte Provincial Park in Oakville....apparently 1,000+ cars with capacity for more.

Would be a sweet location for a large Mopar show......at least for me  :D

I'm in too.  Whatever date and whatever place.  Its going to be difficult to accomidate everyone.
For an informal meet, perhaps it should be free.  Lets just pick a quite parking lot, but still close to buy burgers/food/coffee.  Somewhat like the cruise night folks do.
It could also be a morning meet 9am-12pm.   Lets bring some parts to swap, nothing big and crazy.  Whatever fits in the trunk.   :Twocents:  :scratchchin:  :-\

Ghoste

So basically there is plenty of interest but no way obviously to satisfy everyone so as we head into next year someone will just have to step up and do it.

J.Bond

I kinda knew that logistics would be the negitive factor here. The province is huge, I wouldn't expect members to drive from Sarnia or Ottawa, to hang out for an hour or two. Most of the people that do long distance travel to Moparfest, usually spend the weekend, keep in mind there are a few things to do, after hours in New Hamburgh. Again , just a thought, divide the province into regions, east, west, south and rotate yearly. Does not mean all club members are going to travel to all regions, kinda just gives everyone a kick at the can.

Ghoste

Which is likely the way to go ultimately.  Truthfully, Orangeville is a huge trek for me with 4:10's to hang out for a day but I guess I'm kind of thinking that once it is intiated, guys will tend to repeat for the sake of tradition each year after and word of mouth soon grows it.  Its about having fun and making connections with friends old and ones you haven't met yet.

J.Bond

 Ghoste;

Your last sentance pretty much sums it up!!!!!

4:10's, nows the time you wish you had a open 2:90 sitting on the shelf in the garage

Ghoste

Nope.  I have a set of 3:23 limited slip that came in the car from new but with 90% of my driving being local I can endure the odd long haul.  Now if I were going to Ottawa for a few hours.... :o

TUFCAT

Personally speaking :icon_smile_wink: , I'd vote for nothing further than London Ontario.

That way you could attract more people from South Eastern Michigan, Thumb Area, Northern Ohio, Buffalo New York, and Toronto. :D  Southeastern Michigan being the key. :icon_smile_big:

Btw, I checked the map and ONTARIO IS F#CKING HUGE! ......it could easily swallow the states of Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. ;)

So true. I think Quebec is even bigger.

Never understood the hype about how big Texas is when most of our Provinces dwarf it.

The problem is if you much north of 100km from the Canada/US border the population living there is extremely small.

So I think south-western Ontario/GTA (greater Toronto area) is the sweet spot to attract most people from Ontario/USA

Ghoste

Don (and others in TO), do you consider Orangeville to be part of GTA?  To me, it is but even though I know where it is and all, its sort of a case of by the time I drive to Toronto, Orangeville becomes part of the same palce by default.  But what do people who actually live in Toronto consider to be GTA?

GTA for me and for those who live in Toronto means: Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Scarbrough.
However according to Wikipedia,  its much bigger.  Its Halton, Peel, York, & Durham

My Car will be Finally be complete next year early......So I am up to driving ANYWHERE to enjoy it and meet new people!...
So I think starting smaller at Jbond place makes since....discussions can be held later to determine what this should grow into....
a free place to start with is the Key.....and then figure out the rest!
