One of the guys here on the board made this one up.  Works pretty slick.  Just remember to get your spaces right.

Your going to make me go to the book eh?  :-\

Okay, here is the VIN:

XP = Base Charger  (XS would be R/T)
29 = 2-door sports coupe
4 = Means nothing to me.  The 5th digit is the engine code and should be a letter.
1 = Built in 1971?  I thought you said this was a '68?
5 = Again, unknown.  This should be a letter showing the plant it was built at.
The rest are the sequential numbers of those built.

Are you sure about that VIN?  It just doesn't add up against my book.

Oops.  You know what?  The 4th row isn't the VIN.  Doh!  :blush2:

Never mind.  My book only does VIN's.  Sorry about that  :icon_smile_blackeye:

Okay, I went back to the online decoder and fixed the spacing on the bottom line (remember what I said about getting the spacing right?  Practice what you preach Dave!!!)   It makes the results a lot different.  See if THIS looks any better  (trying to redeam myself)  <- foot in mouth desease

Your welcome!  Sorry about the initial screw up.  Kids screaming in the other room distracted me   :angel:
Sounds like a nice car.  Good luck!

That build sheet is not from the same car as the fender tag.  Build sheet shows paint color as FF1 (Light Green Metallic) with a C6F (Green) interior.  Fender tag is for a WW1 (White) car with C6Y (Gold) interior.  Also, build date for the tag is 327 (March 27) and the sheet shows 515 (May 15).  The build sheet car is unusual though, as it has transmission code 391, 3-speed manual.
